Assuming the weather holds, we'll be picking up our Charlottetown pilot at 7:00 pm tonight, and will be along side at 8:15 pm, for an overnight call into Charlottetown.

Enjoy reading your post while on the ship as I will be boarding on Saturday.

You can never tell about the weather in the Maritimes but luckily you seem to be able to go with the flow.  That's the only way to fully enjoy a vacation.

Looking forward to your take on the Orange Party and the afternoon tea.

Take care, happytotravel

We will be boarding in Boston on June 8th. My wife loves the piano bar. Any chance you know who the piano player is? Some of them we have met on prior cruises.

Thank you

Bami Goreng - this is fantastic - just a little bit spicy and really warm and peanutty:

Thanks for sharing your trip with us- the older R-class ships are classic HAL to me. There’s a Labor Day trip on Volendam that looks great to me (it’s a crafter’s cruise) but that’s prime hurricane season for this Katrina/Irma survivor.

What is your impression of the public lounge spaces, especially the comfort of seating and background sounds? On my recent 29-night K’dam cruise, I was longing for a different experience.

I've yet to sit anywhere that isn't comfortable, and it's generally pretty comfortable noise-wise. Obviously, if they are doing trivia or bingo, you can hear that where they are doing it, but otherwise I haven't noticed any annoying background noises.

I do find the public areas to be kind of weirdly cut up. Probably good from a sound insulation point of view, but it just feels kind of disjointed.

They don't seem to be doing shared tables at breakfast, which I'm a little bit disappointed with. I'm a breakfast person, my partner isn't. I don't mind eating alone (I can Duolingo and read my book and update this review), but I like the choice.

Can I ask a favor ? Could you please take some pictures of the explorer lounge and the connecting room.

I want to use that space on the 2026 World Cruise for project Linus on sea days

Thanks

Here are the port side rooms, starting aft and walking forward:

It's on the other side of the library.

That's all there is - other than the room with the grand piano and the rows of chairs. There also isn't really a separate library - the books surround the whole area.

I think that's what Marty is looking for - the Explorer's Lounge as opposed to the Explorations Cafe.  Starboard side of the ship.

Enjoying your review very much, thank you!
