mattR Posted June 12 #1 Share Posted June 12 What is the order of check-in at Canada Place this year for Princess cruises? In past years it sounded like it was security-immigration-cruise check-in. I read a review that had it reversed this year with cruise check-in first. Cruising Jul 13 on the Royal Princess 3 ships in port. Want to show up later to void crowds but also don't want to miss the boat.
mattR Posted June 15 Author #2 Share Posted June 15 Can someone who is embarking at Canada Place over the next few days please let me know the order?
memoak Posted June 15 #3 Share Posted June 15 How would you miss the ship ? We always show up after 1 to avoid crowds. Earlier this year we went through ship check in then immigration. As long as you get there by 2 you should be fine
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted June 15 #4 Share Posted June 15 (edited) Honestly, the queues are so long that you will have plenty of time to figure out what is happening while waiting in the serpentine lines. Be prepared by having your boarding pass and passport in hand. Be prepared to empty your pockets before going thru the security screening. The lines will flow faster if everyone is ready. auntmeg Posted June 15 #5 Share Posted June 15 Last year (2023) (in July), it was cruise check-in, security, US Customs, boarding.
Rare david,Mississauga Posted June 17 #6 Share Posted June 17 The above photo is helpful; thank you auntmeg.. The order has been that way since 2019 and maybe a little before. The baggage drop-off is on the lower level (and sometimes even a level below that) then you are directed up to the convention centre for check-in. Then you go back down where you started and go through steps 3 & 4. If you have no bags to drop off - or if you were staying at the Pan Pacific or Fairmont Waterfront where the porters will collect your luggage from your room and deliver it to the ship - you can go straight to check-in at the street level convention centre. There are plenty of signs to guide you. 1

newbrunswicker Posted June 22 #8 Share Posted June 22 This is our experience on boarding the Grand Princess on June 5th. We received an email 2 days before boarding we were notified that the ship will undergo a routine Port State Inspection upon arrival into Vancouver and that boarding would not start until 12:30. We took the Sky Train from our hotel near the airport at 11:30 and got to Canada Place at 12:15. There were 2 ships in that day with the Zaandam being the other. All cruise ship passengers were directed to the left side street level for luggage drop-off. We then headed downstairs where there were signs for each cruise ship. We were in the Blue Lane because we had to pick up our medallions. We walked right up to the counter, collected medallions and headed through security. After that we went through Customs. They scanned our faces, (passports didn’t have to be shown) and we were off to the ship. We were on the ship by 12:40. Disembarkation was even simpler. We chose a late time as our flight home wasn’t until 11:30. We picked up our luggage, handed over our declaration form and off we went. Time picking up luggage until on the street was 2 minutes. A little info for those wishing to leave luggage at the Pan Pacific if you have a late flight home. They will check bags for $5 each if picking up by 3 PM. If picking up after 3 it will be $10 per bag. Hope this info helps. 2
mattR Posted July 30 Author #9 Share Posted July 30 Check-in was a breeze! We showed up at Canada place around 9am talked with a rep out front of Canada place that told us we were early and to come back around 10-10:30 so we headed across the street and grabbed a bit to eat from the food court. We headed back over at 9:30 and went down the left side of the convention center to Hall C where we were able to drop off our bags and check-in in about 2 minutes plus the walk. We then headed out front of Canada place to take a walking tour of Vancouver and after that headed to Fly Over Canada for our 1:15 booking. When we were done our Fly Over Canada ride we headed down an escalator on the west side of the convention center to go through security and customs which took about 20mins. My sister showed up at 10am took there luggage to Hall C and checked and proceeded to security and customs with no wait. She then had to wait to be let on the ship till about 11:30. My Mom and brother came by cab at around 10am they drove down the ramp dropped off there luggage and then continued in the cab over to the aquarium in Stanly Park and returned to the ship a couple hours later with no wait but mom was using a cane so she was able to bypass most lines. Two of my brothers showed up at 11:30 and had no wait either There were 3 ships in port that day so not sure why things went so smoothly but wasn't the nightmare we were expecting. 3
