Order of check-in at Canada Place 2024

Recommended Posts

What is the order of check-in at Canada Place this year for Princess cruises?   In past years it sounded like it was security-immigration-cruise check-in. I read a review that had it reversed this year with cruise check-in first.  Cruising Jul 13 on the Royal Princess 3 ships in port.  Want to show up later to void crowds but also don't want to miss the boat.

How would you miss the ship ?  We always show up after 1 to avoid crowds. Earlier this year we went through ship check in then immigration. As long as you get there by 2 you should be fine

Honestly, the queues are so long that you will have plenty of time to figure out what is happening while waiting in the serpentine lines.  Be prepared by having your boarding pass and passport in hand.  Be prepared to empty your pockets before going thru the security screening.  The lines will flow faster if everyone is ready.

The above photo is helpful; thank you auntmeg.. The order has been that way since 2019 and maybe a little before. The baggage drop-off is on the lower level (and sometimes even a level below that) then you are directed up to the convention centre for check-in. Then you go back down where you started and go through steps 3 & 4.

If you have no bags to drop off - or if you were staying at the Pan Pacific or Fairmont Waterfront where the porters will collect your luggage from your room and deliver it to the ship - you can go straight to check-in at the street level convention centre. There are plenty of signs to guide you.

This is our experience on boarding the Grand Princess on June 5th. We received an email 2 days before boarding we were notified that the ship will undergo a routine Port State Inspection upon arrival into Vancouver and that boarding would not start until 12:30. We took the Sky Train from our hotel near the airport at 11:30 and got to Canada Place at 12:15. There were 2 ships in that day with the Zaandam being the other. All cruise ship passengers were directed to the left side street level for luggage drop-off. We then headed downstairs where there were signs for each cruise ship. We were in the Blue Lane because we had to pick up our medallions. We walked right up to the counter, collected medallions and headed through security. After that we went through Customs. They scanned our faces, (passports didn’t have to be shown) and we were off to the ship. We were on the ship by 12:40. Disembarkation was even simpler. We chose a late time as our flight home wasn’t until 11:30. We picked up our luggage, handed over our declaration form and off we went. Time picking up luggage until on the street was 2 minutes.

A little info for those wishing to leave luggage at the Pan Pacific if you have a late flight home. They will check bags for $5 each if picking up by 3 PM. If picking up after 3 it will be $10 per bag.

Hope this info helps.
