No Lobster?

Good news, canapés are being served in the Commodore Club on Gala nights. That was the case on our QM2 Crossing 2 weeks ago and was posted by others as well on their Cunard cruises. However, we were in PG on the QE this past September and canapés were served in the Grills lounge every night.

Really... there surely was none, at least listed, when we were in PG in May.

 

They start on this tack, especially in the Grills, and we will be taking our custom elsewhere.  Forking over $25,000 and then being charged $19.95 for something "extra" in the same dining room. Forget it.

That was surely not an extra cost option in PG last month. Or at least one listed. If it were, I would have complained immediately.  Either offer it on the main menu or not. 

 

Right now, it seems they might concentrate more on serving hot food than figuring out ways to nickel and dime those already paying top dollar.

I'm sure it wasn't on the menu but if asked for, it's chargeable whereas it's available every day if anyone wants it in QG.

The way Cunard handles caviar is that it does clearly feature as a chargeable extra on the room service menu, $60. Therefore you can have in any restaurant, from Kings Court upwards, so long as you are willing to pay for it, it's treated - in terms of billing and processing - as a room service product, which happens to be delivered to somewhere other than the stateroom/suite. I've seen it (once) delivered to the Queens Room as part of the Afternoon Tea session to a couple who ordered it as soon as they entered the Room. Therefore they could do something similar with lobster, if they wanted.

 

Incidentally there are 3 other items which are extras and chargeable, and which get very little comment in this Board: Gormet canapés ($30, needs pre-booking and is generally associated with entertaining in the Grill suites but can go anywhere); Angus beef sirloin ($15); and $10 for the Artisans cheese plate (this is different from a standard and not-charged cheese plate). These items are charged to QG customers if they go the room service route, but free if they go via butler / restaurant route. PG and below will find these items chargeable.

The reason for the 'no charge' is the order off menu facility is available in the cabin too so as long as the meal comes from QG kitchen, there's no charge.

However, ordering like that for room service will involve timing and last year, we ordered lunch off our Butler, at breakfast time.
