You may be assigned a time but it is Anytime Dining.  Go to any of the 4 dining venues whenever you want to eat.  Even though there may be special items in each dining room, you can order food from any of them.  We had reservations but was told it was Anytime Dining.  However, if you find a dining room and waitstaff that you like, you can ask to be seated in that area.

We had assigned dining but were placed at a two top with no one around us. After that, we chose to go to any of the four dining rooms whenever we wanted. It worked out fine but to be honest, we tired of the need to introduce ourselves every night. Much prefer dining at a 6-8 top with the same people.

Interested in more replies on this subject.

We booked Apex for September , 6th cruise with Celebrity last one was Silhouette June 23.

We enjoyed the buffet on Silhouette,  the MDR not so much . I told hubby we would do buffet on Apex as we could only get  late fixed 8.30pm and that is too late for us until I started to watch YouTube videos 😆

From what I have seen it reminds me of Dynamic dining with Royal back in 2014/15, 4 restaurants with a different menu though theirs was the same menu everynight in each restaurant .

How does the fixed dining work exactly , same table everynight or just the same time everynight ?

We like to eat very early , hoping we can just wing it and turn up.

As mentioned above, there is no fixed dining on the Edge-class ships (Apex included). The website and app will show the option, but it's not what happens on the ship. Pick one of the four MDRs, show up when you're hungry, and eat. Easy peasy.

Correct.  There is NO fixed dining on the Edge class ships.  We were assigned a time but were told to ignore that.  Just show up where and when you want to eat.

I agree with this except you really need to make reservations when you board to avoid potentially standing in long lines and/or not being able to get in a restaurant until 7/8pm ....this was our experience with a table of 5.

Heading to a restaurant when they opened, we were greeted with a long line and then, sorry, no openings until 7:50........

just letting you know ahead of time.

We have early dining (maybe yes and maybe no based on your explanation). When I tried to reserve any of the 4 dining rooms (website & app) it says under our names "Dining time already set". It doesn't offer dining times. We like to eat early. Captain's Club said to make reservations when on board.  How did you make reservations?

Reservations were not needed.  You just show up when you want to eat.  However, if you like your servers, you can request to be seated in that same area on subsequent nights.  Personally, I thought all the servers we had were efficient and personable.  Also, no matter which dining room you go to, you can order from any of the other MDRs.

You will not be given a traditional time, regardless of what you selected pre cruise. You would have to request this by asking the restaurant manager on day 1, who will assign you the same table each evening.

If you want to make a reservation on a night-by-night basis, you can do so the day before you want to dine in a particular restaurant. You can book for 5:30, 8 or 8:30 by calling 7000 from any ship phone. Only the day before though, cannot be done any earlier. Between 5:30 and 8, every restaurant is walk-ins only. However, the longest we ever waited to be seated was 15 mins, so a reservation isn’t necessary.

We did the former on the Apex last week without an issue- ate in Cosmopolitan every night at the same time, same table, same waiter.  As stated, you can order the exclusive dishes from any of the four restaurants so the time and consistency of the same wait staff was the key for us.   Not clear why Celebrity keeps the actual dining options for the E class ship such a mystery.

We wanted to go to the late show so went to dinner each evening around 6:45 pm when folks heading to the early show were leaving the dining room.  After the first evening we would see which restaurant had the least line until we had tried all four, then settled for one dining room for most of the cruise.

Did you have to go upon boarding and indicate this?  We “selected” early dining but it sounds like I’ll need to go asap and request this…

Best way is when you board go to the host/hostess stand at one of the 4 restaurants and speak to the person there and tell them what time and what type of table you want and they should be able to accommodate you.
