Snorkelling off the Beach at Cabo, PV, Ensenada or Mazatlan

Recommended Posts

Hello! We are hitting Cabo, PV, Ensenada and Mazatlan. Just starting to research but are there any good beaches for snorkelling near the cruise ships or a taxi ride away? If not, which are the best spots for snorkelling or tours for snorkelling? Thank you very much for any help!

When are you going?

First, the Mexican Rivera is not the best place to snorkel, compared to the Caribbean or Hawaii, or many other snorkeling locations. Visibility can be poor. The water can be cold...again, when are you going?

I definitely wouldn't be thinking about Ensenada. There are several threads about snorkeling a few spots in Cabo.

Thanks for responding. We are going middle of March. We have been snorkelling many places and it’s our favourite beach thing to do. We have wet suits. Not a fan of long boat trips as I get sea sick when the boat stops and bobs.

You might want to look into going to Chileno Bay in Cabo San Lucas. I've never personally been but as others have said, the snorkeling in the Mexican Riviera isn't like the Caribbean or Hawaii at all.

There is no decent snorkeling off the beaches of Puerto Vallarta.  Many snorkel excursions will take their folks to an area called Los Arcos (a few large off-shore rocks) but we have found that area underwhelming.  There are some better snorkeling spots south of PV, but that would not be a good option for folks on a cruise.
