looking for info on NCL excursion "Mykonos On Foot"

Recommended Posts

Trying to decifer the description of this excursion before our Greek cruise.   Trying to decide if we just want to to Mykonos on our own, or take the small excursion.   As an example, it is not clear if you bus from the ship to town and then walk, or just walk (we are OK with walking).   Also, is there free time at the end, or  could you just create your own free time by just not returning to ship.  Overall thoughts on this excursion?

Thanks.

Perhaps you can read some helpful information here:

Can’t help with the NCL tour, but we were there on a Princess ship and did our own walking tour.

We walked from the ship into the town, but there was a Seabus ferry -next to cruise berth, (2 euro each way to town, if I remember correctly), it was constantly running.

We used the GPSMyCity guide to see all the interesting sights, just following the route on our phone and read the information at each site.

You don't need a tour for mykonos.  We were perfectly capable of getting lost in the maze of alley ways on our own. 😉

Mykonos is very walkable, don't remember if you have to take a bus from the port into town, but you can do this experience on your own for a lot less money.

We originally had that excursion booked for our Aug 25 sailing on the Getaway. After much research we decided we could visit the same sites on our pace and get an earlier start to it. We'll just take the 2 Euro water taxi and get dropped off in the center of town.

Mykonos is a small very walkable town less than 5 min walk from the port. No need for a tour.

Wander the streets, see the windmills (beach on the other side of them), have a drink along Little Venice, have a Greek meal at an outdoor cafe.

Unless you wish to get outside of Mykonos Town, there is no need for an excursion.  It's all very walkable, although using the water shuttle from port to town is recommended if you happen to dock there.  If you tender in, you will be tendered in the hear of Mykonos Town.  If you wish to go to the Delos archeological island, then I would recommend an excursion.  That excursion will likely drop you off in Mykonos Town to explore on your own afterwards.
