Rare YVRteacher Posted July 24 Author #1201 Share Posted July 24 Remember last year when I went to North Cape in Norway and loved it? Land’s End is like North Cape without the Norwegian waffles. This is not the famous sign. This is not the famous sign This is the famous sign post and people pay to have their name on it and pay to have photos taken with the sign. What a fun job: sign changer at Land’s End! There is also a store where you can buy a sign with words of your choosing. If you, like me, are enchanted with the walking paths please read The Salt Path.

Norwegianprincess Posted July 24 #1203 Share Posted July 24 Cornwall is one of my favourite places. I went there with my daughter several years ago. We stayed in St Ives, took the bus to Land’s End, walked a little bit of the coastal path, went also by bus to Penzanze and Mousehole. It’s so beautiful there. (and of course, I too adored Enid Blyton’s books when I was a kid, my daydream was to be a part of the Five) 4

Ultimately I ate the melon and left the rest. Perhaps, by chance, maybe, could it be, possibly ... room services possibly got your breakfast order mixed up with another guest's and messed up the delivery ?? NCL's room service delivery typically has the order slip and signed for, don't have a clue what & how Princess handle it. Anyway, loving those descriptive photos and the photography ... of course, give a bit of credit to the iPhone itself, enabling the vivid presentation. Cheers 😎
Thrak Posted July 24 #1205 Share Posted July 24 54 minutes ago, YVRteacher said: Driving through the parish of Sennen, our tour guide told us that traditional Cornish tea is scones with clotted cream and jam. In Cornwall they spread the jam first and dollop the clotted cream on top. In Devon the tradition is clotted cream first then jam on top. Our tour guide says they do it this way in Devon because no one has told them they are doing it wrong. Much like Gulliver's Travels. The Blefuscudians opened their eggs on the big end while the Lilliputians opened their eggs on the small end. They went to war over this. As for the order of the Clotted Cream and the Jam... I'm with the Cornish all the way on this one but wouldn't go to war over it.

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 24 Author #1207 Share Posted July 24 If you journey to Land’s End, there is beauty mere steps away from the tourist glitz and glamour. I walked the paths and took photos of blooming heather 9
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 24 Author #1208 Share Posted July 24 If you do want the tourist shops, they are grouped inside this complex (as you can see, it started to rain this morning and continued to pour for the entire day. Others who stayed in Falmouth did not get rained upon. Our tour guide said if you can see the land when looking out from Sennen then it is going to rain. If you can not see the land then it is raining.)
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 24 Author #1209 Share Posted July 24 On the way from Land’s End to St. Ives we drove back through both Sennen and Penzance. Our coach driver usually does Stonehenge and was not familiar with the roads. Tour guide Anne told him to go a route that was not made for large coaches and we soon found ourselves in a bit of a pickle of the traffic jam sort. We couldn’t go forward and we couldn’t go backward. The person driving the Fiat needed to reverse and get up onto the edge of the road. She seemed unable to find the reverse gear and we were stuck for 35 minutes until another driver explained what she needed to do he saved the day! on our way again I asked our driver if there was a booming business in the auto body industry moments before this I adore all the roadside pubs! I’m hoping to go to a pub tomorrow. Portland is our final port of this cruise and I have not yet been to a pub.
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 24 Author #1210 Share Posted July 24 (edited) Wait wait wait! I forgot something very important! cheese and onion Cornish Pasty for lunch at Land’s End It was perfection! The crust was flaky and buttery and the filling was rich with potatoes, cheese, onion and light spices. It was everything I dreamed it would be!! I wish I had another one right now! Rare YVRteacher Posted July 24 Author #1213 Share Posted July 24 Sometimes on ship excursions I find the stops are rushed. On this excursion the timing was perfect and we truly had enough time at each stop. We were given the whole afternoon in St. Ives. This probably would have been lovely on a picture postcard sunshiny day. In fact, I took a picture of a postcard to show what St. Ives could look like on a day when the tourists aren’t dodging puddles We had hours at the seaside in the rain. Some people hunkered down in a cafe and spent their time indoors. Does that sound like something I would do? Of course not. I wound my way through the gorgeous streets, became promptly lost and stayed lost until I asked a gentlemen for directions several hours later. I had a waterproof coat and a travel raincoat on too. I was more worried about my phone getting wet that I was about me getting drenched. My phone is supposedly waterproof but this has yet to be tested. This tiny grocery store sold Crabbie’s Ginger Beer! It is the best! 14
