Can beverage package be purchased on board by one passenger in a cabin?

I don't know if the bartender can just sell to one passenger in a stateroom. The guidelines are both in the stateroom should purchase the beverage packages. This is done to prevent the possibility of both sharing one package.  My understanding is, however, that you may be able to have one purchase an alcohol package and one the non-alcohol package. If you are planning to do this on board you would probably need to talk with Guest Services to see what options you have. Perhaps others can confirm.

I agree with leaveitallbehind.  Almost all lines have the policy that everyone in cabin must have one of the packages, but if you state one of you doesn't drink alcohol many lines will still allow it since they don't want to exclude AA guests.  I have not seen anyone try this with the 'non-alcohol' package before so I doubt you'll have the same success.  But I'd still ask - I'd start pursuing it before cruise.  Tip: I've had best results by making requests through messaging Celebrity on Facebook.  Calls to the booking dept just tell me to ask onboard where I get answers through facebook messenger.

I do drink, and I’ve  booked All included already. I’m just stuck in that rut of being widowed and not ready to travel solo yet. I could do without additional WiFi minutes and beverage package but I shouldn’t expect my travel companion to give those up. Pay as you go per drink is just not fun.

While we always get Premium Beverage Packages as a Zenith,  I would suspect that if you speak with Customer Service they may make exception.   I know on two other lines I have sailed they made an exception on upgrading just one of the free basic package because I told them I don't drink.   They may require a passenger to buy a Non-booze beverage package like

Can you imagine the optics if they forced an Alcoholic or a person with a medical conditions to buy a package.   Just my thought

And just a fyi, those behind the ear nausea patches state not to drink alcohol with them.  I feel like that'd be justification enough for most cruise lines.

strictly speaking X is not "forcing" anyone - the passengers are making the decision either both have a  drinks package or neither. Same applies to upgrading from Classic to Premium either both or neither. Only exceptions I know of is when one of the passengers is under the legal drinking age then one can have the non alcohol package.

NCL has the same rule, but I've gotten an exception twice when I've cruised on their ships - note, different line & pre-covid.  But I don't blame them for having the rule because I think my cabin mate got 2 or 3 free drinks.  But we only did it in casino area when the servers weren't showing up - just in case someone said something about it, I didn't want to lose my package  😄
