Just got back from a 14 day cruise on the Royal Princess.  Had a great time I was very surprised on the difference between the make up of passengers between the 2 different weeks.

Week one Jul 13/24 Vancouver to Whittier I noticed very few children or teens and the ship seemed uncrowded and adults were behaving.

Week two Jul 20/24 Whittier to Vancouver there were a lot more children and teens on this sailing and some obnoxious adults as well (speaking at a normal volume during.  The shows and the ship just seemed busier, the early shows were packed.

Still had a great time on both sailing was just surprised at the difference.

Interesting. Being July and Alaska I would have thought that both routes would have a similar number of youth. I can't think of any real reason otherwise. I can only speculate:

-more demand for the cruisetour pre-cruise followed by the southbound voyage.

-Better fares for families on the southbound voyage
