Rare ClipperinSFO Posted August 8 #51 Share Posted August 8 For really great views of QM2 prior to embarkation in Brooklyn, take the NYC Ferry South Brooklyn line from Red Hook Terminal south towards Sunset Park (aka the Brooklyn Army Terminal). The first stop is Governors Island, and then you sail right past the ship. It's an amazing excursion which I have done once before (in the pouring winter rain and it was still great). I plan on doing it again in two week's time.
tv24 Posted August 9 #52 Share Posted August 9 I do not recommend that you show up early. You will probably have to wait until your scheduled boarding time and the waiting area in Brooklyn is unpleasant and uncomfortable with no services.

The person who started this thread stated that this is their first Cunard cruise.

It's about 20 minutes to Red Hook and is $4.00 each way. Do you need book tickets in advance or do you just walk up with luggage in hand?
tony s Posted August 14 #56 Share Posted August 14 Ticket machine at the pier. Buy prior to boarding as they scan ticket when you board.

If I was to go for 12.07 there would be enough room to board the boat wouldn't there? I would not want to wait an hour for the next one.

The timetable is in post 50, you should be OK for any ferry after 09:10, so the 10:00, 11:13, 12:12 is good for you, no need to pre-book, the Red Hook (or RED HOOK if you prefer) ferry port is visible as you exit from the terminal building, eyes left. Just make sure you are going to Corlears Hook for Wall Street. And I reiterate the advice to use the App, it's much easier than the machines and you can get the tickets up to 90 days before travel. And if you are over 65 it's the only sensible way to get the OAP ticket.

I think they are actually looking for the 12:07 from Pier 11, which is shown in the photo posted at #58 but they might not realise that. 😀 Edited August 14 by D&N unneeded word
