Does Encore have the overhead heaters on the Waterfront? If so, how good are they? Is it comfortable enough to enjoy supper outside on a calm evening? (I’m sure even the heaters aren’t much help if it’s very windy.)

The Encore was purpose-built for Alaska. There are heaters over all of the al fresco dining areas (including the Garden Cafe).

When the temps are nice, we have enjoyed eating outside (even with a light coat) under the heaters on Alaskan cruises. This week, it’s in the 50’s and a bit too cold for us.

The serpent will live for a few more weeks until it meets its demise by a demolition crew to make way for Spice H20.

Thanks for your daily posts! Really enjoying them. We are looking at this cruise sometime next year. Do you know if you they are permanently getting rid of the laser tag?

In Skagway, the city runs a shuttle that picks up all over town and brings you back to the ship. Saves the hike to/from town (especially when it is hot or rainy). $3 per ride per person or $5 all day per person.

It will be replaced with an Adult Sundeck, Spice H20 in November 2024.

is there indian food on the cruise ?

The Garden Cafe buffet always has Indian food breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not a lot. But a separate section of Indian foods. (And toned down in terms of spicy).

How did you get to the Welcome to Alaska sign in Skagway , is there a tour where we could get photos standing before the welcome to Alaska sign. Thanks

This was the White Pass Bennett Lake and Yukon. 7.5 hours.

They pick you up at the ship. Drop you in town at the train depot. They had two reserved cars for NCL. Everyone got a 4-top table. It about 5 hours on the train.

There was a 50 min stop at Bennett Lake to walk the trails. A sandwich box lunch once back on the train. They had cases of bottled water and a toilet in every car.

Once the train gets to Carcross, the bus driver meets you there. We had an hour to shop, snack, and see Carcross.

The a bus takes you for a 2 hour ride back to Skagway with photo stops (like at Alaska sign).

The Welcome sign is at the US-Canada border about an hour out of Skagway.
