Just a short review on our cruise on the Seashore from 8/4-8/11.

First of all this was our 6th cruise on MSC but first since before the pandemic.

Kudos to MSC as they are finally an American mainstream cruise line, they have really done their homework as we had the best food we’ve ever had on MSC, the service and entertainment were very good also as was interaction with guest services.

Some meals in the buffet could have been better, the powdered eggs were awful.

The entertainment was also very good but thought it was better on our past cruises on the Divina.

The Seashore is a beautiful ship but way too big for our tastes, we are in our late 70s and did way too much walking as they needed a bank of elevators mid ship. 2 banks of elevators on a ship that large is a joke. The ship is also very noisy especially with a large number of kids like we had last week. For the most part the ship was kept very clean except in the buffet where most of the kids were spilling food all over the place, the help just couldn’t keep up. The noise level in the buffet was deafening.

We definitely won’t be sailing with MSC again unless we find cruises on smaller ships like the Divina or Magnifica and only in the Caribbean as we refuse to fly anymore, the bad news is MSC plans are for larger ships, no thanks, we will stay with Celebrity and their smaller ships.

I’ll try to answer any questions.

We are in a similar boat like you. In our early 70's, will not fly anymore, like the smaller ships like the Celebrity Equinox. BUT, (there is always a "but") the elevator situation during meal times from the restaurant deck to cabin was a long wait and we cannot take the stairs like we used to. The cabins have those low profile shower/tub combos too hard to get in and out of and we felt bad taking a handicapped cabin from those that really need it. MSC has two great products to consider, "but" one must 'bite the bullet' and pay for the better product. The MSC Yacht Clubs, have fewer guests, their own buffet with fewer children, an elevator override key card calling an empty express elevator, separate YC Restaurant serving real eggs, a lounge with butlers catering to one's every want and butler escorts to the front of every line when one wants to venture out of the gated YC community. Then there is MSC's new Explora Journeys. An even more elevated experience in dining, with a NO self service buffet, everything is plated for you. the elevators are never crowded, so far with only 650 passengers (900 maximum). Hardly any children. Reminded me of the fictional Garrison Keilor, Lake Wobegone," where the women are strong, the men good looking and all the children above average."

@MISTER 67 just off MSC Magnifica on Friday after 5 days Bahamas from Miami. It was my first time on MSC and overall it was fine and I'd cruise with them again.

Like you, we don't like the mega ships and the chaos that can accompany them. Interesting comment about the stairs and elevators - there were 4 banks on Magnifica: forward, aft and 2 mid. That meant I was mostly able to use elevators and they were rarely crowded even though the ship was full.

Being a short cruise while many schools were still out, I expected the child situation you experienced, but was pleasantly surprised.

The big disappointment was to find the only specialty dining was not a steakhouse, so my dining perk went unused.

I thought overall the ship was well maintained and clean and the crew was friendly. I did miss being greeted with a smile & "hello" by every crew member I passed, but I'm sure they'll learn that is important in the American market.
