They can be for some, but again it's just assumptions on board members parts. I was trying to allude to with "just as much a fashion choice" part of my comment for balance.

Just our few cents and observations. Please make sure you include these thoughts when you get a post-cruise survey. Cunard heavily markets an after-six “sense of occasion”, especially for Gala Nights. Did you go to the Queen’s Room or any other venues after dinner?
Desert Cruisers Posted September 1 #303 Share Posted September 1 Currently on QE. Third time in last 5 years for the Alaska season. Evening attire has always been more casual on these sailings as compared with the QM2 transatlantic crossings. The trend towards more passengers dressed casually - not even smart attire - may have increased to a level that the overall “it’s a special night” atmosphere is being lost. We are in the Princess Grill and were surprised that at least a few men didn’t even bother to wear a tie. The two tables of ladies near us either wore “resort casual “ or everyday clothes - flannel shirt, pullover sweater, etc. 2

Rare mking8288 Posted September 1 Author #306 Share Posted September 1 Good 😊 cloudy morning from Ketchican, we've arrived ... all abroad is 2:30 PM. Rain should ease up soon per Weather Channel. Going to be a crowded waterfront, just like 2008 when we from here via the Norwegian Star. View from ship's forward cam at 4:45 AM.

Rare mking8288 Posted September 1 Author #308 Share Posted September 1 NCL Jewel passing us last night, port side ... read that Yvonne reporting that the ship had issues, including WiFi. Not here onboard the QE. Meanwhile, tender operations underway for the Ruby Princess Fall is in the air, slight chill and damp ... unzipped the compressed packing cube to put out the appropriate weather gear.
Rare mking8288 Posted September 1 Author #309 Share Posted September 1 Photos from Deck 3 Mid, Starboard side while waiting to get inside the MDR ... Gala (noticed how others dressed) P.S. The same gentleman that worn a collared shirt, no tie and hand carried a navy blue wool cardigan ... has on a pair of sneakers. Was stopped by one of the host at the entrance for a conversation and nearly turned away, until he slipped on the cardigan ... as his jacket. No, did not affect our appreciation & enjoyment , just another observation made initially by Mrs M. 4
Rare mking8288 Posted September 1 Author #310 Share Posted September 1 "The Sun will come out ... (not) tomorrow" singing, how about later today for us, pretty please 😁😁😁 our shorex is 11 AM and we plan to meet up about 10, to go ashore first. Breakfast room service ordered for 8 - 8:30, waiting for delivery ... no need to rush to get ready or go downstairs to eat.

Hope you got smoked salmon. I always had egg, crispy bacon and white toast [huge treat] but brown sauce as an extra was non negotiable!
Rare mking8288 Posted September 1 Author #312 Share Posted September 1 (edited) Wait, what's that noise outside our balcony and motor gears running ... lifeboat being launched. Quick & hurry, what's going on Grab that smartphone camera, it's only a drill and or routine practice & training. No general alarm and no announcement. I see that our 2 life vests are on the upper shelf and where we go for mustering. It's all good, coming back up ... checked & OK, I heard them below. The lifeboat next one over, good to return on standby mode, too ... we feel 100% assured Edited September 1 by mking8288
Rare Victoria2 Posted September 1 #313 Share Posted September 1 Just wait until you hear 'for exercise for exercise'. 'Men' [are they allowed to say lady, too?] somehow get [thrown] overboard and goodness knows how many fires occur! 🙂

dexddd Posted September 1 #315 Share Posted September 1 In post 255, see the agent adherence to Cuny dress code. See you are traveling mostly with the Celebrity Lego inspired ship. Food looks pretty good. Was going to ask about pizza but see picture and it looks good. News you may not see. Headlines, your city has noise cameras that issue tickets. For you, like gent in story, will have to keep your Lambos at idle, no revving. First ticket $800. But I guess if you can afford Cunard, $800 is change. What's on the TV? No beans yet. I saw Friday our store had hash brown triangles for $4.99 retail, maybe 36 count. Do the math but must be saving NCL some dimes.

Rare mking8288 Posted September 1 Author #317 Share Posted September 1 This is fancy in-room breakfast vs NCL no-frills, smoked salmon and also look closely, scrambled eggs w salmon, toasted warm whole bagels x 2, and cream cheese spread & butter too 😋😋😋 juices that we mix together (cranberry & OJ) plus, coffee & hot chocolate, creamer. Fruits are good. Not as good as suite & Haven (NCL's) and I am sure it's nicer here being in suite & better. This is.great. Nothing to sign since it's complimentary & free. Cash tip cheerfully accepted. @Sugar Magnolia That's the other new travel vest, I wear it 😀 - smart casual dining at 7:45 PM is fine 😁 7

Rare mking8288 Posted September 1 Author #320 Share Posted September 1 Full scale tendering underway for the Ruby and the shorex boats are leaving the pier. Tenders looked exactly like the ones used on the Dawn, Jewel & Gem, etc. That's a loaded, full boat - Ruby Princess ... literally near maximum lifeboat capacity. Wholy Cow 😳 - hold on to that hat, it's not windy and seas are smooth & calm 👌 1
