88¢ refund

Took a cruise last year. Got an email with an 88¢ refund today. Thought it was amusing LOL

I promise you that there are cruisers that would lose their minds over not getting their 88 cent refund. 

 

And as a retired accountant, I can tell you that sometimes it is less hassle to issue all refunds, no matter how small, than to weed out the tiny ones.

I always thought that if you had a refund balance of $10 or less, it is automatically donated to St. Jude. At least that’s what Carnival states.

It says it is automatically donated to St. Jude only if the refund is not claimed at guest services prior to debarking.

 

Apparently, these refunds were "found" after the cruise ended, so the guest could not claim them prior to debarking. Carnival thus cannot automatically donate them.

I thought they donated refunds that small to St. Jude. Maybe it doesn't apply to gift cards.

Pay attention when cashing out at the casino.  They will automatically try to keep any change you are owed and only give you the whole dollars.  Even if I tell them I want the change, they do it anyway.  That forces a second cash out transaction.

 

I use cash in the casino.  I put the bills toward my next time in the casino, and the change goes in a piggy bank to eventually be cashed for something.

 

I don't lose my mind, but I do stand firm on getting entire refunds no matter how small.  As noble as the cause is, I don't donate through third parties.  I donate myself.  I don't let businesses use my money for their tax write off.

It’s interesting that someone who hasn’t posted in almost a year has taken such an interest in a little comment of mine.
