Tracy;

I think you should stow away...you can sleep in our cabin...and I am sure a certain crew member would give you some space in his cabin the second week!!!

Hi Chelle, I just got off the Radiance Sunday from Hawaii. Before leaving for the cruise I remember reading your post about the singer Santino so I made a point to check him out. After hearing him sing the first song in the Colony Club I was hooked. I never made it to any of the other shows because I liked Santino and Blakjax so much. There music made me cry. I usually sat at the bar in the Colony and Santino and the band would take there breaks right next to me. I got to talk to Santino and told him about how I found out about him through your posts. He said he remembered you well and to thank you for spreading the news. I bought his DVD and he signed it for me. When I got home I went to his web site ordered a couple more Cd's and joined the fan club. Thank you so much for the tip about Santino. He is absolutely the best entertainer I have ever seen and heard on any cruise.

I agree with bdominger! (Hi Bob & Janet) I loved them, we only missed one of his shows, it was like I was in morning. His Colonly Club shows were fantastic and the Centrium show was great....right outside our cabin door of deck 8. Nothing like falling asleep with his music in your head. ;)

I would like to order a CD, can you post his website? Or you can email it to me if that is not permitted.

Bob and Janet;

I am so glad you enjoyed Santinos shows. He IS a wonderful performer and a wonderful person. He makes me cry sometimes too, especially when he sings "Marios Song" which he wrote for his brother in law who died in April, the week I was there and it was really hard on him.

I actually spent Sunday with him and Mikey and Watty. I picked them up and we went to the Poway Bernardo Mortuary believe it or not, where they film the show "family Plots" which is one of Santinos favorites. It was awesome in the car having them all sing along to the radio, it was like my own private show!!!!

He's getting ready to release another CD and to go into the studio and record a new CD this summer. They just got a recording contract and they are very excited and a little nervous.

I am going to pass on your comments to him, he loves to hear that the fans enjoy him and his music, especially now that he's having kind of a hard time with people on the ship not wanting him to "steal" all the guests from other shows and stuff. BUT I MEAN REALLY CAN THE MAN HELP IT THAT HE'S SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My fingers are crossed that he'll do one more cruise ship tour this fall, he had planned to be ship board from Sept to November but he doesn't know yet. I've done five cruises with him now and he just gets better and better every time.

Thanks for sharing the news and I am so glad I was able to recommend something to you that you enjoyed so much.

Linda;

The website address is:

www.santinolive.com this recently became the new address since they are retiring the Blakjax name this month when they record the new CD.

I am so envious of all of you, 14 days with him is luxury...I did the Panama Canal with him in 2004, but wasn't lucky enough to do it this year, had to be satisfied with two-7 day cruises.

Chelle -

I'll be taking my first RCCL cruise on the Radiance for 8 days to Eastern Caribbean beginning November 25, and its my wedding cruise!!! I am soooooo excited!!!!

Any advice/helpful hints on what to do while on board, and what to recommend so my guests have a great trip are appreciated.

The wedding is small - only 6 guests plus my soon to be husband and me so it should be easy to plan things.

Thanks!

Kathy

Kathy;

You picked a great ship for your first time. The Radiance is my all time favorite---as well as most peoples since it was voted #1 ship and crew in the fleet two years in a row!!!

We were actually booked on this week but had to change to the 11th....eastern is my favorite, its the prettiest. All the ports are wonderful. If you want my recommendations for ports let me know.

Onboard I would say, do everything. Act silly and participate it will only make the cruise that much funnier.

They do several gameshows that are fun especially the Quest, and the Love and Marriage (you should volunteer to participate since you'll be newelyweds!!!). They do a 70's disco night in the Starquest that is a blast with a visit from "Almost Abba" and "Almost Village People", they do a ladies 80's night with the "Strip Officers". (crew members of course) And in the colony club they do a country western line dance party and a 50's sock hop party with a twist off. Pool side they have the mens belly flop and sexy leg and a couple of dance parties and a mid night buffet island party.

Everyday on your bed will be a paper called a Compass that lists everything going on all day and where...I recommend taking a highlighter with you and reading it and marking what you want to do.

They also have trivia, dance classes, towel folding and on and on. The ship also has a movie theater and rock wall. Its impossible to get bored....16 bars, video arcade, casino. All the shows are usually good, and maybe if your very lucky you'll have Santino on board and his shows are NOT to be missed...he's the best performer ever!!!!

If you want anymore information or more details let me know, I can go on and on about this ship and the crew!!! Its my FAVORITE!!!!

Chelle, Cool story about your car ride with Santino. I don't know how you were able to drive. I uploaded a few pictures of Santino & Blakjax performing at the Colony Club on Webshots. You can check it out by click the link below.:)

Dang. The computer ate my first message and it was so beautifully worded.:cool:

We're booked on the Radiance in March, 2007, Chelle (or anybody else who has sailed on the Radiance). When I made the reservation, the RCCL rep suggested an E2 balcony cabin midship (if that's a thing) on Deck 8 near the elevators. I asked him if he thought we should upgrade...but he said that this one would be great. Should I upgrade to an E1 on Deck 9 or a Junior Suite? What do you think?

(As a newbie, this website is helping me intellectually...but reading everybody's experiences is making me uber impatient for this vacation. I don't know if I will be able to contain my excitement and wait...unless I heavily medicate myself in the meantime.)

Bob and Janet;

I didn't realize you were part of the Pineapple express...I traveled with Darlene and Larry and Ruth and Avrom on the Panama Canal cruise in 2004.

Having them singing in the car to me is a definite highlight of my time with Santino...its AMAZING how wonderful his voice is and what a showman he and the rest of the boys are.

2tall;

Midship is the best place to be, less movement (though truthfully the ship is so stable that you don't feel it anywhere) and midship is centrally located so its easy to get around.

All the "E" category cabins are the same, size and everthing-so the one you have is great, we do E3 a lot. If you want more room, though if your like most people the cabin just becomes a spot to sleep and shower and change, then a JS will offer a bit more room. I wouldn't change anything, save money for the next cruise!!! That's kind of my theory, cheaper cabins mean more cruises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2tall~~~~~~ what cabin are you in? We love the hump and most of the balconies are huge. The hump cabins are close to the stairs and the elevator so it's really convenient.

Chelle, do you have any idea if Sonedad is still the Loyality Ambassador on the Radiance. She helped us so much when we needed a cabin change and of course, the pursers office said they're weren't any cabins left. So many of the people we knew have left the ship. Sure is nice to know at least one person on board. How about Willie, is he still the conceirge? I know you don't spend any time in there, at least I've never seen you, but I'm sure you'll find out!!! thanks

My son called me from Astoria last night. The Radiance and the Serenade were there. I can't stop thinking about being on the ship now ~~~~ only 5 more months till the first one. Mimi

Mimi;

Soledad is the loyalty ambassador, she is currently on vacation with her husband, the band director but she is due back in August I believe. Willie I think moved to the Freedom, at least that was the rumor in April.

5 months to the Radiance, seems like forever, good thing I have the Freedom cruise in 23 days!!!!!!

At the risk of sounding like a total novice (or idiot...pick one), is the "hump" what you call the middle of the ship?

Thanks, Chelle and Mimi! We're in 8082 and now I feel so much better about it. And "cheaper cabins means more cruises" sounds like the perfect attitude to have about it.

Maybe I should tell the family to pound sand at Christmas and schedule something for just the two of us...**deviously planning something that includes neither parents nor children**

Now you're thinking 2tall!!! Leave um all home!!

One other option for you. I don't know if you booked with RCCL or with a T/A but call one of them and ask if 8086,8088,8102,8106,8584 or 8588 are available. (8088 and 8102 being at the top of the list) If you want a larger balcony these are the cabins to get. They are E1 cabins. These same cabins are also on deck 7 and 9. The hump, (yes, middle of the ship) are our favorites and book them ALL THE TIME. 8082 is also a great cabin, but the balcony will be the normal size. You can also asked to be waitlisted for any of the other cabins. Wherever you wind up, you will love the Radiance.

Yep, definitely leave the kids home and cruise whenever you can, its the BEST way to vacation...its the only way I will since I discovered cruising in 1999....seems a lot longer some how...going Diamond Plus this year (24), helps that I have 7 this year:D :p

The hump is the middle where the ship curves out, makes for great balconies...but really ANY spot on ANY ship is perfect....

Mimi;

I don't know what perks you get for Diamond Plus, I just know I want to be that!!!!!!!!!!! We do however get priority on upgrades etc...so that's a plus, and we get a cool new lapel pin to wear. I am just so excited to see the words DIAMOND PLUS on the bottom of my seapass...I only got to do ONE cruise as DIAMOND when they added the new Plus category!!! Course now the next level is not until 50 cruises--should take about 3 years to do that!!!:p ;)

Beach;

I just checked out the Santino website, works just fine, log on and then click on the menu at the right side and then again on the bottom left after you choose what you want to view...the Monthly news is a good one, click on Marios Song and listen-its an awesome song he wrote for his brother in law and recorded in the itty bitty little bathroom in his cabin.
