Winning isn’t Everything – Celebrity Mercury, 5/8 Mexico to Alaska

A loyalist to a particular cruise line is always going to defend that line to the death. That's fine if they want to do it, but they are biased, of course. And hopefully most of them will acknowledge that.

 

I applaud Brian for seeing what has happened here. He posted the same review on the HAL and Celebrity boards and the reactions are quite different. It sure was a wake-up call for me because I've often been very harsh with people who write of their "horrific" cruise on either HAL or Celebrity because I'm exceedingly loyal to both lines.

 

But the fact is they had a horrible time! For them it was bad and it is their right to say so. We can disagree, but should we tell them they're lying, crazy or worse? Probably not (except in rare instances when it's totally obvious they are trolls).

 

Brian is a good guy. We've never met, but we have spoken. He wrote his review with an amusing twist despite being sick. I responded emotionally to the reaction on the HAL board. But everyone who comes here to tell us about their cruise experience should be able to do that. Personally, I'm going to do better with that in the future.

 

For awhile now I've backed off both CC boards because I just got tired of it all. It's just too much sometimes. Life is too short to spend it angry at people you've never seen and probably will never meet. We come here to spend some time between cruises talking about it and living a little vicariously through other's experiences.
