Port fee's went up

Just got a call from TA that the port fee for bermuda went up.

$7.00 pp:eek: How will i ever afford my cruise now!! Just thought i give a heads up. (Crown 8/7/06)

Yes they can. Port fees and fuel charges can be added after final payment. What most likely happened is that Bermuda is charging higher port fees and Princess is just passing the charge on to the passenger.

Two years ago, Alaska uped their fees twice before we sailed. Nothing can be done since in the "contract" it says this type of fee is passed on.

Sure they can -- these are additional expenses imposed on the cruiseline and which they pass on to passengers.

We just made final payment on our 9/21/06 Crown Cruise last week and no mention of any additional Port Charge for Bermuda from our TA. Ike

The letter said that those who made final payment will have their onboard bill ajusted to reflect the $7.00 per person increase.

I also got the call from my TA Monday, 07-03-06 about the $7 increase. That was also the date of finally payment for my cruise. I guess that is $14 i can't spend in the casino now!!!

 

And when I saw it was my TA I thought I was getting a call to be upgraded!

Is the increase in port charges just for Bermuda or are there other ports that have increased their charges also?

Thats kind of messed up that they can impose the cost on us.The airlines dont tack on charges to my ticket that I already purchased when the price of fuel increases.

I have had to pay fuel increases at the airport before (months after purchasing tickets). I have also paid airport fees at the airport that were not in the price of the ticket.

TAs are often faxed this information. Since $7 is not that significant - it doesn't surprise me they didn't contact you. Princess will often put information into the Princess Patter if you have made final payment saying that your shipboard account is being charged an additional amount due to port charge increases.
