Cathy Maneri Posted September 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2006 I'm an avid Celebrity cruiser and I was talking to hubby the other night anticipating what they will have on the new ships. Here is what I would like to see: Entertainment: Playhouse (small theatre troupe) Jazz Club Comedy Club Spanish Classical Guitar music Do Wop or 50's Club Different venues with different types of entertainment. No more productioin shows. Dining (freestyle): Asian Italian French German Seafood Mexican Tapas Have small main dining room for large groups of people who want to sit together (private banquet hall style). Attire: Dining attire as if you were going out to dinner in large metropolitan city (no tuxes/no gowns) Would love to hear your ideas. What would you like to see on these new cruise ships? bauerdogs Posted September 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2006 All good--except for the freestyle--I hate it. Hope they never change that--Let em go to another line if they like it that much :) Ron
Ferrets Posted September 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2006 I am really looking forward to the Solstice and Equinox. One thing that could be added that might help a lot of people pack lighter would be a self service laundry.

Captain Cosmo Posted September 12, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2006 My wish list for the new ships: Reliable propulsion system Dog kennel set up like on the QM2 so that you could "visit" with your dog while onboard A low-salt menu for those who need it so that the regular fare in the dining rooms isn't so bland No smoking in any of the public areas Inclusive liquor and tips and/or a policy that allows liquor to be brought on board by passengers Reasonable Internet and Laundry charges More dining options More deck chairs Larger verandas Larger bathrooms in cabins Walls between verandas rather than the glass partitions Electronic jamming of cellphones to prevent obnoxious cellphone users from degrading the at-sea experience with mindless chatter... A more fully-stocked convenience store (instead of a few shelves in the liquor store where you can buy liquor that you can't drink onboard) A ban on art auctions (or any other huckster activity) by anyone speaking loudly in an Austrailian accent! Posted hours and services for the Cova Cafe Tours of the bridge and kitchen for those willing to submit to a background check A ban on the musical duet "Lucky Duo"! alohavictoria Posted September 13, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Although I wouldn't mind seeing a few changes such as having the spa cuisine on the main menu (as well as where it currenlty is) and having the FOV being upgraded to CC class, I think what I would like most is not so much what's on the ships but where they go. JunPOA Posted September 13, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Excellent discussion topic. * coffee-makers in every cabin (auto-shut off type) * children friendly/ family friendly only dining room seating areas, aka designated dinging areas for folks who electively prefer NOT to eat around (other people's) children. (some parents do not appropriately control their children's behaviors during the dinner hour or they keep the kids up way too late - kids get cranky. I expect I'll get flamed for this one:D * private massuse on-call for en suite massages- complimentary:D *Glamour shots staff for the all the foto ops * fresh flowers in all cabins * free intranet service with direct e-mail capaibilities to the Customer Service, C.D. and H.D. so onboard concerns may be communicated & resolved promptly * Allow pax. to file their customer satisfaction survey aka cruise evualtion post trip with on-line submissions THEN publicly report the currernt & YTD reults on their website (this wish applies to all cruiselines with the belief that competition drives quality improvement):) That's it for now - I am sure I came up with more later. As for my future Xpedition cruise to Galapagos, based on all postitive reviews I anticipate little to no room for improvment!:) Take Care All
bauerdogs Posted September 13, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Why would you want to have a choice of other rest. on a ship-- They cost extra money. When you pay for a cruise, your food is included. When they have other rest. on the ship the food in the main rest. suffers. We went on an NCL cruise and the food in the main rest. was very poor. Ten day cruise, we ate upstairs 7 nights out of 10. Give me the main Rest. with the same waiter, and no other rest. that charge you extra money. If I want to go out and pay extra money for better food, I will stay home and go out to eat. Just my opinion on why I hope Celebrity stays with the main rest. with early and late seating. The product of this "let little Susie express herself" mentality is that most kids today seem like they were raised by wolves...

Jimsgirl Posted September 13, 2006 #16 Share Posted September 13, 2006 More inovative itineraries, perhaps to the Sth Pacific leaving from and returning to USA port (something like the HAL cruise in January) Yes I know I could take HAL, but prefer Celebrity passenger demographs. A Beauty salon that listens to the customer, as to want she wants re style etc, and does not push products even when told not to do so. Do it yourself Laundries. Keep the present dining as is (I am a traditionist) Do not schedule Bingo right before the show, it seems that the Bindgo fans stay on and take up a great many seats. Actually enforce the "No saving of seats rule" in the showrooms. and of course around the pool. Un -escorted children should not be allowed to roam the ship at will , it is annoying not only for other passengers but dangerous for the children, Perverts can be on a cruise just like in any town. Better and bigger libraries. Get rid of the so called Art Auctions, they are a rip-off Serve a sit -down -waiter served afternoon tea in a lounge every day. As they do on Crystal - yes I know Crystal costs more. Have senior officers and Captain hosting tables in the diningroom every night and at every dining sitting. Not for the "I dined with the captain" groupies, but because when this happens the standards of service and food seem to be higher. Above all have the Captain/officer responsible walk around their domains every day, this too keeps things operating up to standards. On one cruise the Cova was managed by a very young inexperienced officer who never went there, the staff decided to make life easy for themselves, they omitted tablecloths, menus, deleted many of the "special made to order" coffees and teas, and put out only one small plate of "munchies". It took a personal face to face with the officer to get him to go there , and within an hour the staff had changed and the Cova returned to the standards it had always had. caviargal Posted September 13, 2006 #18 Share Posted September 13, 2006 Love the Jazz Club idea! I would like to see a really nice wine bar where there is a large variety of by the glass options along with tapas. Nightly tastings would be wonderful (I really enjoyed this aspect of MSC). Please no Freestyle dining in the main dining room! Add more tables for two. And a piano player every evening at dinner playing standards and classical music. Adult only pool as I believe Solstice will attract a younger demographic, likely with kids. In fact, bring back a few adult only sailings for us that prefer to travel without kids and teens onboard. Upgrade bath amenities to a decent brand. Allow passengers to bring wine aboard and pay a corkage fee. More alternative dining options, with smaller surcharges. Non smoking cabins so I do not have to leave my balcony due to my neighbor's habit.
Pisti Posted September 13, 2006 #19 Share Posted September 13, 2006 All children ie under 13 first seating and designated section of dining room. We travel with a child and I am always appalled at how late kids are up and about. Adult only pool enforced. Thelassotherapy pool, no extra charge. Cathy Maneri Posted September 14, 2006 Author #23 Share Posted September 14, 2006 I knew this thread would get some hits. Jim's Girl.....Celebrity does have an afternoon sit-down tea every day in the dining room. Also Small Bites in the buffet area every day, which is an informal tea time. The other dining venues I suggested would be no extra charge. I like the martini bar in every cabin. I would also like to see longer itineraries especially the South Pacific with a round trip from the States as well, I saw Holland's 30 night roundtrip...something to consider. I did hear from Celebrity staffers on my last cruise that these new ships were to be more luxurious and a new concept in cruising (whatever that is). Happy cruising. Hi Cathy:) when did they start offereing "High Tea" in the dining room every afternoon? I know they offer finger sandwiches of many types and desserts every afternoon in the buffet area on the Lido Deck starting at approximately 4:00. But after 9 cruises on X the only "Elegant High Tea" in the dining room I know about is offered once throughout a 7 night cruise. Just wondered when they started doing it every day? I have never heard of that. It is quite a set up for them once...just wondered about doing it every day.
