Hi kis2006,

I saw that you were "awarded" the Intercontinental- that's the hotel I dream about staying at. What star level did you bid at? And did you start bidding lower than $110? What did you total amount come to?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new to this bidding business and a little nervous about it to be honest. We're looking to stay in San Juan for a night pre- and post-cruise in February, 2011.

Thanks!

Gretnagirl

We are too! I haven't done PriceLine before and we need 4 rooms - we have 4 couples traveling together and we are hopeing for Intercontinental - need help!

I read (very, very early on in this thread) that Priceline limits the number of people in a room to 2. Can someone confirm or deny this statement? My party is made up of 4 people, and we would like to stay in the same room, for obvious economical reasons.

Thanks!

Did you contact someone at Priceline? They state in their guidelines that hotel rooms will accommodate up to 2 people. Try Hotwire for a room. I think they may be more flexible.

Donna, Yes, I did bid resort. Have you gotten the message "if you add $23 to your bid?" I tried several times on different days before I finally won. Keep on trying, don't give up yet.

Still trying on our hotel - went up to $116 at Resorts for all areas - still no luck - going to try later today with my hubby's credit card! lol

I think it is because I need 4 rooms - thinking of adding 4 Stars - as that wouldn't be bad either!

Hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend!

If you decide to rebid using DH's CC, it would be advisable to also use another computer, as Priceline will pick up the same IP address.

I just got Sheraton in old san juan for $70 :D two rooms two nights post cruise. 2/14/2010 and 2/15/2010. Now I just have to find a precruise hotel.:D

Can you tell me what criteria you put on priceline in order to get the Sheraton in Old San Juan. I am trying to get a post cruise stay for one night. I already booked two nights pre cruise on priceline at the Marriott Stellaris at $123 +taxes per night.

I just posted on another thread about this very topic. Before reading the thread, I was content with my $220+ reservation at the Marriott. After reading everyone's experiences, I got the courage to try PriceLine. I got a room for $110 (+taxes) for one night, pre-cruise, on October 23rd.

The Sheraton in San Juan is a 3.5 *, so that should be checked off under the star level tab on Priceline but is no guarantee that you will get the Sheraton. We're still looking for a resort for mid January but still have not placed my bid as yet. Good Luck!

Do you know what are the other possible options I may get in addition to the Sheraton.

Here's a breakdown of 3.5 stars on Priceline:

Sheraton Old San Juan

Embassy Suites

Verdanza Hotel

These are all in the San Juan area, and are the only 3.5 stars on the island. I'm hoping to get the Embassy Suites, only after deciding that paying less is more important than being pampered at a resort. The Embassy is as resorty as we need, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it!

So, for 1/1/11, and 3 rooms-resort, i've been unsuccessful @$135/room. Thinking of bidding 4* and then 3.5*. What zones can I safely add and still stay in San Juan? Maybe I'm having problems because it New Years Day.

I think New Year's Day has a lot to do with the fact that you've been unsuccessful at getting rooms as it's also a Saturday and considered to be the holiday season. I would try bidding for a 3.5 to 4* adding all the other zones one by one including San Juan on each bid, except for Fajardo which has resorts. I'm sure you'll find something. Please post your results and Good Luck!

According to what I've put together based on Priceline's information, you should avoid the Fajardo/Rio Grande/Humacao and Ponce/Guanica regions if you're bidding for a resort, Fajardo/Rio Grande/Humacao for 4-stars, and anything's fair game with 3.5-stars. Can't say that it's been all that successful for me, but I'm about to change my bidding tactics.

Just won the Marriott San Juan Resort for $110 - 2 nights pre-cruise Jan 20 & 21, 2011. We stayed there last year for one night and loved the hotel and area. Will go to Ummo's one evening for dinner and La Barrachina the other evening. Great location to get to OSJ.:)

You may want to try placing two separate bids for 2 rooms each time. I'm wondering if the system is not allowing you to book 4 rooms at the same time. The only downfall is that you may not get the same hotel for both bookings. It's just a thought if money is an issue.

Still trying to get 4 rooms 2/5/11 for pre-cruise - up to $120 and gettng nothing on Resort - any suggestions?:o
