I can never get on a machine on a full stomach, or even after coffee. This may be final post for a week; no internet freebies on Carnival. :( I really need to think about packing. JotWorld Posted September 23, 2006 #229 Share Posted September 23, 2006 We'll as Envy4u said I have never been on the Island Princess, however the Maitre'd that I had on the Grand Princess for my last cruise in the Med was the Maitre'd on the Island for 3 years in a row. It was his ship per say, and told me he thinks it's the best ship in the Fleet because she is like a "Baby Grand Class" all the same amenities as a Grand Class but not 2700 pax only 1950 and all the same services as well...................................Tony Wow, Great term, we agree that is what it is, "A Baby Grand Class", All the way!:) We loved the Island in 2004 & will doing a B2B on Coral Sister on 10/23, and we can't wait;) Bill & Irene

T&J Posted September 23, 2006 Author #234 Share Posted September 23, 2006 OK, just got back from the Steak House just now. I got invited by the Casino Fleet Manager that has been onboard since Singapore and is getting off in Madras, India. The meal was exquisite as I had the ceasar salad and 10 ounce Filet Mignon and the chocolate peacan pie with ice cream and a beautifull bottle of Caynus, Cabernet Sauvignon which was so smooth! I went to the "Office" before dinner from 4:50pm until 6:15pm and did quite well and was very happy with my results. The seas have been for the most part pretty calm with the occasional pitching and rolling tonight or maybe is the bottle of Veuve I had after the "Office" at the Club Bar and the bottle of Caymus?...who knows! The ship is pretty much quiet as usual and the internet cafe right now is dead! I might go and press my luck again in a while back at the "Office"...when it's your day it's your day! More to follow later tomorrow morning from the Pacific Princess in the middle of nowhere! Tony

mississauga Posted September 23, 2006 #236 Share Posted September 23, 2006 Question for you Tony since you're so experienced with cruises. We are planning a cruise on the Island Princess to Hawaii in April, likely the last cruise of the season to Hawaii. What do you thing of that cruise in terms of the itinerary and weather? April is a teriffic month for going to Hawaii. Have been to Hawaii twice in April and the last time it was on a cruise although not on the Island Princess. It was a much smaller ship and I loved it but DH found it rough at night for sleeping, especially around Kauai. I slept like a baby. The Island Princess is a beautiful ship and much bigger so I don't think you will feel as much motion. No matter what the itinerary, you will love any port in Hawaii. Envy4u, I have heard that it is the rainy season for Hawaii in November so will look forward to hearing what you have to say after your cruise. Tony said Hawaii is too commercialized now but we need our shopping too, don't we, envy4u? Enjoy your cruise!
arlenemilt Posted September 23, 2006 #237 Share Posted September 23, 2006 Finished packing so I have a few minutes. Bill and Irene: Thanks for your wishes Tony: Yes, you are certainly worth 35 cents; 50 I would have to think about. :) However, will have to observe how good/bad internet is on board, before logging on. Tune in. Maybe. As for the dead ship, that's because the majority of the cruisers are past their prime. They can't stay up that late! :D Arlene

aaerobear Posted September 23, 2006 #241 Share Posted September 23, 2006 Question for Tony (or any of the other lucky people on the PP at the moment) Is the electrical outlet in your stateroom a 3 pronged (grounded) plug? Our laptop has a grounded plug and we need to know if we should purchase a cubetap before heaiding to South Africa. I sure hope you guys are enjoying your great cruise. We will be there shortly. I am so looking forward to a great dinner in the Sterling. Ed/Jeff

T&J Posted September 24, 2006 Author #248 Share Posted September 24, 2006 Good Morning from the Pacific Princess....We'll last night after posting I went back downstairs to the Casino Bar and OMG the place was packed!...we'll busy for this ship and the casino had a fair amount of traffic as well, the most I have seen thus far on this cruise. After 11:45pm, all of sudden most of the place cleared out competely including me and I went to bed at 12 midnight which really was 11:00pm since we have no again turned back the clocks one hour. It is currently 6:40am so I am now +14 from the East Coast.I woke up this morning a little fuzzy from too much alchool last night with a pre-dinner bottle of Veuve and a bottle of Red at Dinner...a nice Caymus.Today we are off the booze I think?....The ship could of sank last night and I wouldn't of known it as I was out like a light. This morning there is a lot of pitching and rolling again and I can see out the window a lot of white caps and the wind is pretty strong as well. Our last lazy day at sea before hitting Madras, India (Chennai) tomorrow morning. We are also have a Cruise Critic luncheon down in the Club Restaurant organized by Lorraine...(god your good Lorraine).I am going to breakfast now and get a couple of espressos in this fuzzy head.More to follow later this morning from the Pacific Princess.Tony
