Good very early morning....Got up at 4:00am this morning for no good reason....couldn't sleep any longer so grabbed my 3 mugs of coffee and came to the internet cafe this morning and no one is here! The seas last night were mostly clam as I didn't feel a thing. I went to bed after 11:30pm last night....I think I surely caught up on my rest and sleep now as the Casino must think I am dead or jumped overboard!Again last night as I was walking around the ship, it was dead onboard. I really don't know what these people are doing other than sleeping and eating all the time. Hopefully this morning when we arrive into Singapore, the weather will start to cooperate. I wouldn't mind going to Sentosa Island as I said previously for a beach day....if not then it will turn into a shopping day.As I said the ship is scheduled to dock at the Cruise Terminal for 9:00am and then we must do a face to face and clear immigration with our passports in hand. We set sail for Kuala Lumpur at 6:00pm tonight. It is currently 4:55am so we are exactly 12 hours ahead of you on the East coast currently. We are so many Elite's on this cruise, that the cut off to make the luncheon is 25 cruises or more. Because we are so many they have decided to do a deluxe private cocktail reception for us all again on the 27th of September with deluxe canapes and an open bar so that the other Elite do not feel snubbed or left out which is a nice touch.More to follow later today from the Pacific Princess.Tony

Is it really a month since we were on the beautiful Pacific Princess?

Singapore, ugh!! Communist China, walk right in, communist Vietnam, walk right in. Free and democratic Singapore - rots of ruck! We had to line up for more than an hour (and this is a small ship) and when we finally emerged into Singapore it was already 10:40am. Half the day gone. Almost.

Good luck, mate.

Who, in heaven's name, do you think would be on the internet in the middle of the night? Of course the room is empty! Three mugs? If you had the BIG one, you wouldn't need three. Don't worry, keeping it safe for you.

Amazing. With our measly 23, we would have been shut out again.

Yes, the lines into immigration this morning are horrific from what I have been told. I am awaitng a couple of the crew members that have a boat drill until 10:00am so I am hoping by the time we get off at 10:30am approx. the lines will be cleared.Tony

Hello All,

So very sorry to interrupt! Family members in New Zealand have booked on the Pacific Princess cruise in Alaska next summer. We are hoping to join them (from our new home, Arizona). It seems the cabins they suggested we book are all already taken (bow BAs). And I am anxious to book soon to avoid missing our next choice. B/c this thread has frequent and current (!) travelers, I thought I would jump in and ask for advice.

We will be on a southerly route from Alaska to Vancouver. They got one of the two bow balcony rooms, 7001BA. We thought a balcony cabin on the port side would be best, maybe 7008, 7010, or 7012 (BCs). That would put us close to them and facing land. We aren't sure if their balcony will be too cold/windy at times, so a side one would be an alternative for us all. I can't see what the BBs farther down the hall from our relatives have to offer over the closer BCs. Can anyone help me on this?

Also, how private are the balconies?

I plan on reading many of the other threads here as I am new to cruising, but, again, am looking for immediate advice so I can book a room close to our relatives and then research. And boy has this thread got me full of questions!! TIA!!

We'll the ship got cleared a little ahead of time at 8:40am this morning. Mostly everyone and they're dog headed immediately off the ship to immigration in the Terminal here in Sentosa. The weather is glorious surprisingly unless of course the whole shy opens up later this afternoon which is normal for Singapore.I am awaiting a couple of crew members to finish there boat drills later this morning and we should be off the ship by 10:30am. I am plannign on going to the Raffles Hotel for a drink this afternoon, China town and the Arab Market for some last minute shopping to see if anything has changed at all which I doubt. We will be taking the MRT whihc is the fastest for of transportation in Singapore. might want to check out some electronic gizmo's to see whats the latest that has come out since I was last here 1.5 months ago.Probably will have lunch in the City somewhere, although they have Key Lime pie in the Dinning room for lunch....my favorite...rats!OK, more to follow later this afternoon once I am back from "orderly" Singapore.Tony

OK, I 'll jump in help you if you'd like IMHO...save your money in spending in a higher CAT BA than BC. First of all the cabin you would like is forward and I would stay away from them as they face the front of the ship and can be quite windy and rough depending on the seas. For the value, I would rather pick a balcony in CAT BC unless CAT BB (which are more mid ship) are priced the same.During this summer I was in in Asia for 2.5 months on this ship and I stayed in 7010 and it is a nicely positioned cabin on deck 7 close enough to the elevators and very convenient. The balconies are relatively private and covered.I hope this helps with your decision making.Tony

Hi Tony,

Will you take the gondola, or the ferry ride, over to Sentosa Island?

David I will take the gondola one last time probably in a longtime since I don't plan on being back here for quite a while. Will be my last Singapore in a longtime!Tony

Oh my gosh! You we just in one of the cabins we are considering! Wow! The BBs are $50/pp more, not much, but I couldn't imagine why. The only thing I could think of was maybe more roll on rough seas, but the deluxe suites are a few steps away and I didn't think they would want blue high rollers (um, no pun intended). As far as privacy of balconies, I didn't want to pay for one and then have it open to the one next door with little kids making faces at us the whole time. I tend to have that kind of luck.

Thank you, thank you. I feel much better booking one of those rooms based on the fact that a was it 28(?!)-time traveler also booked one!

All you are paying for a CAT BB is to be more mid ship than anything else...it's the same cabin as the BC...nothing different other than location.Tony

OK, just got back onboard from coming in from the City. We took the MRT to City Hall station to go to the Raffles Hotel to the loghorn bar where the original Singapore Sling was invented. My friend had the Sling (two to be exact) and I had two Margeritas. The drinks are outrageously priced for 4 drinks $76.00 Singapore dollars. We then went to China Town and Clark Quay for a quick bite and back to the Cruise Terminal and made a pit stop at the Watson's for some deoderant and hair gel that I much needed. The weather today was actually quite good, hot and humid and no rain showers thus far. Upon inspecting the AFT of teh ship I now know what the kabang was when we left Phu My. Obviously we hit the dock and we now have a huge gash in our starboardside...looks quite bad actually and also our gangway is stuck outwards as they had problems rectracting it when we left Phu My. This is why we were delayed over 40 minutes leaving Phu My the other day.I plan on going to the gym in a couple of hours and then to dinner at 8:15pm tonight.More to follow later tonight from the Pacific Princess.Tony

Yes, heard about it, but just a few days ago. Seems Murray got email from Bobbi/Howard, who said Lew had passed away in June and they were going on a cruise and taking Cicely with them.

Your mug needs to stay in Florida. It's already moved into its new home. Come and get it!

Nothing serious...not a gapping hole or anything like that were the hull would have been punctured, but clearly a very big scrape accross the stern of the ship right down to the metal and the paint has been completely taken off and there is a clear 20 foot indentation.

We'll if someone has Sissley's email or Bobbie and Howards please pass along my condolences to her as I really enjoyed Lou a lot and have fond memories of him last summer onboard the Pacific Princess and helping bargain for a suitcase in Vietnam.
