I will definetly look for the "Love Boat Dream" dessert at dinner....It looks so good. I am not much into the big dinners on the ship....love to dress up, but it is way too much food, but the desserts....I could try them all...

Love your video....Be sure to post when your hubby caves and agrees to book a cruise.

I guess I must have really missed something huge from your video/posts...as I didnt see anything that would have inspired the above comments about "kissing". I am so curious (hope the old adage about "curiosity kills the cat") isnt true....but I am going to go back and try to find out what inspired the comments.... CC is usually such a happy group....YIKES!!

Chris,

the references are from an argument we had here a YEAR ago...

Last year the Star had a large group of gay men on board during their halloween cruise. Some of the men filmed a pornographic video while on board. Quite an argument ensued here on the board. There was much arguing about what was appropriate to expose children to, you can imagine the rest.

For whatever reason, Brian is now stating that I have an issue with gay men kissing. ...my position has always been that I felt it was not appropriate for ANYONE to film sexual acts in a manner that could have been viewed by other people, for example, on a balcony in broad daylight (yes, the DID do that). My comments have been taken as being "anti-gay" and nothing I say will change Brian's mind about that. My gay friends think that is a bit funny....but I digress.

In my video there is a quick shot of me and my hubby smooching on the balcony, that is was inspired Brian's comments.

We were on the Star October cruise with the "Bears" - several posters who were not there blew it totally out of context - Yes, they did dominate the aft pol - We saw no kissing or any other type of "pornbographic" behaviour, although,we did not go into there rooms or balconies to witness the alleged "Porno filming". There was no filming in public areas!!!There were two cabins of Gay folks adjacent to our cabin and they, along with others we encountered exhibited extraordinary manners, moreso than many other "pushy" people who think they are better than anyone else. I think the whole thing was exaggerated beyond reality on this board.

Flame away everyone!!!

Ron

No flames from me. I have heard several accounts that matched yours and I think overall it describes the cruise. I also remember hearing of one couple who had to move their room because of filming on the balcony next to theirs. It may or may not be true....

For whatever reason, Brian is now stating that I have an issue with gay men kissing.
I’m really trying to stay off of this thread but now I have to defend myself. My original post never said that you had a problem with gay men kissing – you brought that up yourself - read my post which I quoted here.
I’ll make only one comment and then I’m out of this thread – why is it OK to publish photos of straight people cuddling in bed or kissing on the balcony but the supposed “threat” of gay people doing the same thing is met with such vitriol?

Along with being mis-quoted, I’ve been called a liar and a hypocrite by you and yet you were leading the cries of outrage about the Star Princess Bear cruise before the ship even left the pier and any supposed untoward behavior occurred. It was a prejudicial viewpoint from the start and it had nothing to do with filming porn. And really, for all you know, the filming that went on during that cruise is no different from what you’ve presented to us all here.

And for the record, having gay friends who think I'm funny doesn't legitimize your viewpoint - but I can just imagine that you and your non-uptight gay friends have some good laughs at my expense.

Now that I've defended myself, I'm truly out of this thread - and as Ron says, flame away.

The reason that I didn’t want to continue to post on this thread is because I don’t want to spoil it for you – but you know as well as I that your posts here in the past demonstrate you do have a problem with same-sex kissing. It’s one thing to ignore my comment but another totally to deny the truth.

And at the risk of further deviation from this thread’s intended path, I won’t post here again. Have fun.

Brian...your memory failing you?

And for the record, my gay friends don't laugh at YOU. They have never heard of you. They laughed when they heard that I was referred to as a bigot and "anti-gay".

Jennew,

I enjoyed your video and you did a great job putting it together. Thank you for sharing it here. I hope it accomplishes what you want it to - it is a first rate attempt!

I'm sorry that some have seen fit to make an effort to spoil this thread for you. We can all ignore those remarks and continue to enjoy your video. I'm having a hard time understanding what they are attempting to accomplish by digging up old stuff that has evidentally been festering for a year. IMHO your best tactic would be to not respond again to that nonsense.

Thanks Julie. I really enjoyed making that video and have started a second one that highlights our family cruises.

as for the other stuff....I agree. I shall ignore from now on, I have no idea why I took that bait.

THANK YOU!

I have tried videos like this in the past with some success, but I never considered using the zoom in and zoom out in the software. Excellent idea and I am going to steal it. It is much better than just using fancy transitions.

The song choice was excellent, as well. Are there any other good song choices out there that people can suggest?

Thanks for the creative inspiration.

Jeff

steal away...lol...it was only by accident that I realized how much better that would work out. It makes it a little more interesting to watch.

I was thinking of some songs for our family cruise video. I am stuck so I would like to hear suggestions. So far I have come up with:

Let the good times roll- the cars

Dock of the Bay- can't think of his name...

Hey Ho- let's go (the ramones)- using that for the "getting to the boat" scenes

Kokomo- the Beach Boys

I have not yet found one that I am really excited about....

IDEAS??

I am going to show my dh your video, as I am trying to convince him to book a cruise for Nov07. We are leaving on a cruise 11/06 and he isnt convinced that we should have 2 cruises booked at the same time...Go Figure?? Maybe it will inspire him.

Our video camera has some neat editing features but I dont know how to use them. Did you use the editing feature on your camera or was the video edited from the site that you have it on?

none of that was actual video. That is made of a bunch of our cruise pictures that were taken with our digital camera. If you take digital pics you can upload them and use Window Movie Maker to make a video like the one I did. Let us know if you get anywhere with your DH....so far mine is not moving. :o

I have used "Hot Hot Hot" since you here it all the time on a Caribbean cruise.

"(Sittin) On the Dock of the Bay" was Otis Redding. That would be a good one.

I wonder how "Sea Cruise" by Sha Na Na would sound?

I am hoping that I can get him to do the pre cruise buy on The Grand at the end of Nov. We are so disappointed that PCL will not have a ship in Galveston after this season as we live so close.

I am shooting for a Baja/Mexico cruise out of San Diego next Nov....I will let you know if he budges....but I am not too hopeful

Hey!

Loved your video and you have given me the idea to make one for my DH. He will not budge for another cruise either, so I thought I'd give the video a try. I have already made several videos on Windows Movie Maker, so I will make another just using pics of DH and me, along with that song!

I did not know that WMM had a feature where you can make the picture go in and out like you did in several of your frames. Could you tell me where you went to get that special effect?

BTW - I have a feeling that your DH is considering the January cruise. Don't give up! ;)

Hi,

the effect is under "video effects" and I can't think of the name of it right now...I think it is called "ease in" and "ease out"....

If you go to my page on youtube, I created a second video that shows our family cruises. I learned a few new tricks with that one. Check it out if you get a chance.

Make sure you post any links to your videos!!

Thanks! I know where that "effect" is, just didn't know what to do with it.

I am afraid to post on youtube. Not sure if i want the world seeing my family on video. I cannot believe that someone posted something bad about your video. How do you link your video to youtube, anyway?

That's exactly how I feel about youtube. Not real sure what people will do with it! Jennew~~That was really good! Enjoyed it so much. I too have been experimenting with making such videos, just haven't done a vacation one yet. But I think you have inspired me! Actually, I do some mission work and have been making some moving videos regarding some of my trips. Now I think it's time to make one for DH for Christmas!!!

Thanks again,

Janet

P.S. Sorry about your bad comments on youtube (and here too). Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the kind comments on the video. I made the second one for the kids and they loved it. DH just keeps shaking his head at my attempts...;) ...we will win him over. Bills schmills...

I only posted this on youtube so that I could share it easily with my son who is in college and with some other out of town relatives. It was also nice to be able to show it to you guys here. I never expected over 2000 views of the first one. The second one has only a few views and one rating...which was a one star rating...but WHO CARES? :)

What part of the world do you do missions in Janet? I have done some work in Honduras and I am working with an orphanage in Kenya right now. Did you know that there is such a thing as a Missions Cruise? Don Shire is a friend of mine, he is a musician and a missionary. Each January he leads a group on a Norwegian Cruise and they do missions work at each stop.
