RCCL Crown & Anchor -- differences between Gold- Platinum-Diamond level

Recommended Posts

I just read another questions about the different levels with the Crown and Anchor program. Are their any really big differences between the different levels? Can those of you who have been at the different levels let us know if you noticed a difference when you got to the next level and was it anything to shout about?

At the Platinum and Diamond levels do they really offer an additional “Welcome back have a watered down drink on us” party. The only real perk I see is the priority check in.

So what do you guys think, are their real differences between the different levels.

You can find that information on Royal's home site (royalcaribbean.com)

under Crown & Anchor or loyalty at the top of the page, then membership and benefits. It gives all levels.

There are definite differences between levels--especially diamond.

I've seen what RCCL says are the differences between the levels, I'm asking those who have moved into the different levels if there really is a big difference, or is it just something on paper.

So those of you who HAVE moved to the different C&A levels, do you notice a difference???

Yes! Platinum is definately better than Gold. I enjoyed the separate check in, with cookies and punch, and the Plat./Diamond party on the Navigator was an open bar-not watered down drinks. Too, they had a nice luncheon buffet on the side. Our coupon books had more in them-some drink offers, free photos, and some free Internet time-plus spa stuff that I didn't use. Too, you get free custon air, which generally runs $60. I always like to make sure I get on a nonstop. And yes, the separate debarking lounge was nice, with coffee, tea, juice, some food. I am VERY happy being Platinum. I bought the lowest, inside guarantee cabin for my son, and he was moved to a large, oceanview, outside cabin. I am sure his being Platinum had something to do with that (he won't know how to act-being able to see out!!).

Hope this helps.

We did our first "platinum" cruise in June. We had priority check in (which wasn't really of value since we were at the port early).

We then had robes supplies to the cabin. We also had a bigger discount book but was disappointed to see it still only had one bar credit - come on you can do better than that - how about a bottle of wine one night at dinner!!! Most savings vouchers required a spend (e.g. spa or casino credit, which I think is a bit of a con). there were 15 complimentary internet minutes which was useful.

The platinum dinner however was excellent. I did feel that this was upto the captain since we had a drink in his quarters (Moet et Chandon) and a bridge tour. I would suggest that some other cruises might not be so good. There was free wine flowing at the dinner.

I thought it was a nice touch and "made" the cruise for us a little bit special. I think there should be more graduations though as it is many cruises until diamond!

I would be interested to learn how the priority upgrade system works.

Platinum is much better than Gold but then Diamond is better than Platinum.

Coupon book is worth much more, for example Platinum get 15 minutes internet while Diamond gets 20 munite coupons. Other coupons are doubled and worth more.

Most important is the concierge lounge which is open to Diamond members and higher suite passengers. Open bar (not watered) every night from 5 to 8. Continouse coffee. cappacino, latte all day long. VIP tickets to ice show and conciege on duty to make reservations or any other situation you have.

The rewards for sailing RCI is much better than any other cruise line offers including Celebrity.

There is also a lunch or brunch for Platinum & Diamond members that is generally very good with real drinks and good food.

Platinum & Diamond also have a separate departure lounge for disembarkation with coffee, donuts, etc.

On ships without a concierge , Diamond members generally get some type of snack, petit fours, etc in the cabin each night.

The coupon books are much better for Diamond members. More casino plays, free any size picture, free drink, % off on spa treatments, free wine tasting, 20 minutes free internet. I've heard they've added some more things to the book since our last cruise that makes it even better, but don't know what they are.

Luncheon for Platinum and Diamond members? Is this on all RCI ships? There is nothing on the RCI web site about this perk. This sounds really nice. And champagne with the Capt? Are you sure this included platinum members? I would think there would be too many guests if platinum members were included. Well, we'll find out in Aug. on our NOS cruise, I guess. Hope for at least the lunch and open bar for second welcome back reception!

Yes-on NOS this past December, we were invited to attend a gathering for Platinum and Diamond members. There was an open bar and a nicely laid out small buffet-but I think I had already eaten and wasn't hungry. Several members of the crew were there, in addition to the captain. Don't miss it!

Much to my chargrin, my husband and I, having sailed with Royal Caribbean exclusively ten years ago, and then after a 5 year hiatus from them, found out that I had miscounted our cruises and had become Diamond members for our sailing on the Legend of the Seas in June.

I have to admit, that I, not my husband, am a perky type of person, that is I enjoy being treated with all the perks that we have earned and I can really say that the Diamond perks are the best, in my opinion.

We had many of the same of the Platinum's, but a little bigger and better, such as the additional Internet time and three each of the $12 for a $10 buy in at the casino and three each match plays for the tables, which the pit boss let me give mine to my husband, after asking, because I don't play table games.

We also had the additional get together with the Captain and officers, with the good drinks and finger food. It was held in the Crown lounge one morning at 11:30 and was delightful.

We also got a delivery of chocolate covered strawberries and some other cookies one evening, although I wasn't in the cabin to take delivery, my husband was and didn't know who they were from until I read the card that came with them.

The robes, much to my surprise, were of the fluffy kind, not the waffle weave kind everyone gets on Celebrity.

We took advantage of the early disembarkation and for the very first time, in our 28 cruises, we were off the ship by 8:30AM, although that we didn't need because we only live 20 minutes from the pier.

I have to say that I am really impressed and am looking forward to another Royal Caribbean cruise, only this time I'm hoping I get a ship with that Concierge lounge that everyone talks about, so I can avail ourselves of that perk also.

Can anyone tell me if the Radiance has the lounge, as I'm looking at a Panama Canal cruise, Eastbound next October?

In my eyes every level of membership is an improovement.

For all people comlaining about the perks and coupons I have to say come on guys, why complaining about something I´m getting for free. OK There are coupons I don´t use but who cares I got them for free. And at least there are coupons in I get money from (Casino vouchers). Most of my cruises have been with RCCL so maybe I can´t compare too much but from what I´ve read about other lines it seems to me that RCCL is doing a lot to welcome and honour their loyal customers. In my eyes they have some nice repeaters perks.

I too could complain about some things i.E. that epople are getting diamond much easier taking 3 or 4 nighters than me taking usually at least 7 nighters but mostly 10 to 14 nighters. But well they tried to improove this already, but the the step is still high at 12-nights getting double credit. But as I said it´s still a thing for free.

I guess they hadn't started this lunch/brunch open bar type party for Platinum/Diamond members when we were on the Vision last year in September. Does this invitation replace the repeaters cocktail party in the evening, for all C&A members, or do Platinum/Diamond members still get invited to that party as well?

This is a lot of good info. One question. After our June cruise we now qualify as Platinum members. Will we get our new cards in the mail & how long should we wait for them before calling RCCL? We are already booked for our next cruise and want to be sure we show up as Platinum membres.

By the way, on our Mariner cruise our attendant brought us the robes even though we were still Gold at the time. We actually used them more than we thought. We think the perk we are most excited about is the priority check in.

We will be travelling with a group of 8, us & our two kids plus some friends of theirs. Since the wife & I will be at the platinum level will we all be allowed to go through the priority check in?

Thanks to all.

You will LOVE the Radiance and also the Eastbound Panama Canal Cruise! Hubby and I and about 80 of our closest friends, "The Radiance Rowdies" did this cruise last October and had the best time ever. We were on board for Halloween and of course that was just another excuse for a party. we all dressed up and had a parade thru the dining room, both decks, prior to both dinner seatings! Don't miss the Zip line tour in Costa Rica, it was great. By the way, you can see some of my pictures online at WebShots, member name is Driftychick. Enjoy.

We are Platinum members and just got back from the Serenade today. I'll try to remember all the perks we had.

1. Separate line to check in. (we didn't really need it b/c we were there so early)

2. First group to go through immigrations in Vancouver before getting on the ship. (Diamond and Platinum at the same time)

3. Coupon book delivered to your room that included:

15 mintues internet (we had a laptop and didn't need this)

15% off in the spa

10% off logo stuff purchases

buy one, get one free photos

2 $5 match play coupons for blackjack or roulette

2 $12 for $10 coupons for slots

1 coupon for soda/wine/drink (but only house wine, not your choice)

there were other coupons, but I can't remember what they were, these were the ones we used.

4. robes in your cabin (although we had to ask our attendant b/c they were not in the cabin when we checked in)

5. Cocktail party for all C&A members with hors d'orves (don't know how to spell that) and drinks. They were passing out champagne, but I saw other people ordering beer and wine. Don't know if it was actually open bar. The captain spoke and he was very funny. Also the loyalty ambassador spoke.

6. Brunch for Platinum/Diamond members only. This was held in Portofino's and they had waiters passing out fruit/bread baskets/canopes/bloody mary's/screw drivers/mimosas. They also had cut up veggies, finger sandwiches and dessert trays. The waiters took orders for eggs benedict.

7. Separate lounge for day of disembarkation. We did not use this, as we did the onboard checkin and were required to be in the theatre instead.

8. $100 off a balcony cabin for 7 day cruise.

Invitation to #5 and #6 were sent to your cabin. Admittance is by invitation only, so you have to bring it with you. Hope this helps you. There are other people who might remember more of what was in the coupon book.
