Sleeping Over on a B2B Cruise?

Got the latest cruise atlas this week (love the idea of the 102 day world cruise, but you'd think they could throw in the 'back to the states' part of the trip, wouldn't you?), and noticed the 14 day Caribbean Princess trips, with the Eastern Carib followed by the Western Carib trip. Saw that the ship visits Princess Cay on Saturday of the first half of the trip, and again 2 days later on Monday on the Western half.

 

My wife and I really like Princess Cay, do you think they'd let us stay over from Saturday until Monday? Maybe take some food and air mattresses or use the little bungalow things there until the ship returned?

Doubt it:D :D but you could always 'miss' the ship:D :D and hope they get back on Monday to get you!!!

OK! What does your wife think of getting dropped off with an air mattress and maybe some food?!!!!!! YIKES!

Simple answer "NO" they will not allow it.

Maybe you can "bunk" with the caretaker who lives there. Don't hold your breath on that one.

 

Would suggest you sign up for the next Survivor Series.

You are kidding, right. :D

 

Even after you figure out where you will sleep, what you will eat, there are other problems to figure out.

 

These are the ones that come to my mind with about 30 seconds of thinking.......

Clothes / Hygene (bring a bag ? / where to shower ?)

Bahamas immigration (they are not expecting you)

US immigration (they are expecting you back)

Princess Liability if you get hurt or ????

I like the Robinson Crusoe idea, but this will not be possible. There is no guarantee that the ship will be able to pick you up on the return. If a bad storm should hit, you'd be at the mercy of the elements, too. I also think if you tried to miss the ship, security would hunt you down and get you back on board. You would probably be escorted off the ship for good the next day. The security staff really don't have a sense of humor about these things.

 

As a substitute, perhaps pitching a tent for a few days on a secluded beach near your home, with some Jimmy Buffet CD's and inflatable palm trees to heighten the mood would work.

Nitemare - have you considered flying down to Eleuthera for a long weekend?

 

So many people fly to Nassau and spend a week. I would much rather pick one of the more quiet Bahama islands (like Eleuthera) and stay there compared to Nassau. I did talk to a couple on my cruise who stayed at a B&B in Eleuthera. Since Princess Cays is gorgeous, I have no doubt the rest of the island is gorgeous also.

 

Lastly - did you ever hear the story of RCCL a few years ago. They stopped at Cocoa Cay (sp?) and tendered several hundred passengers. Then a terrible storm came up that made it unsafe to tender passengers back so passengers were able to stay on their private island over night. Crew did tender back to get extra food and medicine for passengers but the passengers were able to camp on their private island until they were able to tender back safely.

There is no guarantee that the ship will be able to pick you up on the return. If a bad storm should hit, you'd be at the mercy of the elements, too.

I see the attraction of Princess Cays, I really do. But, the air mattress. That is totttttttally lost on me.
