Tour Guides Venice to Barcelona

Recommended Posts

In Venice, it is so easy to walk around and if you have a good map, you will not need a Tour Guide. In fact with all the crowds, you could end up losing your Guide.

We have been to Venice numerous times now and still we can get lost but that is half the fun of being there as eventually you end up where you want to be.

It is our favourite city and if you can spare the time, spend a few days there either pre or post cruise.

There are numerous suggestions for tour guides in Rome and I think also Barcelona on the Ports Board - Europe - so you should be able to find someone who comes recommended.

Here are some links:

Jennie,

Any suggestions on a hotel in Venice?

We stayed last time at the Hotel Metropole which is right on the Grand Canal, quite close to San Marco square, a wonderful position.

I had booked a courtyard room but we were very fortunate as they upgraded us to a corner front which gave us 3 windows overlooking the Canal. A wonderful position.

We have also stayed at the Hotel Monaco and Grand Hotel which is a little more expensive than the Metropole. This has the most wonderful breakfast room overlooking the Canal. It also has a great dining room though pricey.

We had very BAd experience with Viator, and Green line in Rome, BUT our transfer to the ship, was set up by another passenger, and we ended up with a great GUIDE, instead of transfer driver (must have had a little extra time on his hands) He'd been to the Port several times in the week already, picking up tours. He has a Mini van, name is Stefano. Not sure what his Company name is. He actually took us on a mini tour of Rome on the way to the port, instead of the transfer, plus he's an expert in Etruscan history. He was the best part of our time in Rome (And he's handsome!) Tudor Sue should know his company name!

I cannot recommend Claudio of limoinrome enough. He is the most knowledgable of any tour guide I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He is a gentleman and extremely well educated. Roman history is his passion. You can contact him at claudio@limoinrome.com.

email me if you have any questions.......rsterchi@charter.net

Hello, We stayed at the San Marco Palace just behind San Marco square in Venice. It was beautiful and well located and not too expensive. For a fantastic tour guide in Rome, Florence and Napels/Sorrento, try Limoinrome.com - Claudio. We had private, totally interesting tours in all 3 cities and loved them. Also Claudio arranged for a private Vatican tour with a women named Claudia that was the best - will never forget her. Good luck. Sharon

To Knitter Hi -- we are also on the 10/30/07 Venice to Barcelona cruise. Haven't signed up for any tours yet, as we've been to several of the major cities before and thought we might revisit on our own. Just wanted to say "hello" to a fellow shipmate.

Hi...We will be going on the Nautica, June 5th sailing. Has anyone looked into shore excursions -- or would anyone be interested in sharing shore excursions. Look forward to this cruise. Went on Insignia last year and loved it. Karen

Dear Karen,

Please join our very active roll call. We had our first-ever cruise in September on Nautica, loved it, but had an inactive roll call.:(

However, for the June 5 Athens to Rome, our second cruise, we have a lovely group, 36 and counting, headed by the knowledgeable StanandJim, who know Oceania and cruising inside out, plus know how to post fabulous pictures. :D

Check out the 160+ posts so far!!

Cordially,

Pam
