I worked for a major casino for 10 years. Let me tell you those little old ladies that you see a punch a whallop!! We had someone one night attempt to take an old lady purse. Bad idea!! By the time security arrive, the guy was on the floor. She knocked him out with her cane and a bucket of coins. Mind you this women was barely 5 feet and 100lb soaking wet. I don't put nothing pass some seniors.

Yeah for them. And yeh for the local constable for saying they were just protecting themselfs. Imagin if this happend in an american port. Think there would be a big stink  ?

Clearly Costa Rica is swift in justice and serious about protecting tourism.

Nonetheless, I just read Carnival announced it dropped Limon from its future intineraries, in favor of the Honduras. It seems to me that more and more Caribbean cruises will go from private island to private docks to deliver a manufactured sense of paradise, and not risk encounters with local cultures. I understand it but it also makes me uncomfotable. And don't get me wrong, HMC is one of the most pleasant places I have been.

I can't help but wonder how the fellow who broke the robber's neck feels. He most certainly did not expect this to happen while on vacation. He is fortunate indeed, this did not happen in the U.S. as it very well could have.

GOOD FOR THEM! It just goes to show you that many seniors are in great shape ! Its ashame this terrible incident happened to them on their vacation and happy to hear Carnival stuck by them and they decided to continue their cruise. HATS OFF TO THEM! They could have been "DEAD" since these assailants were armed. God Bless Them All!

Hammy, he probably feels the same way the USMC sniper in Iraq felt when he answered a reporter who asked him what he felt after he just killed an enemy combatant with a long distance shot. His anwer: "recoil"

I can see it now ... future shore excursions are now going to include "Assault with Deadly Walker" tutorials and "Hand to Cain Combat" lessons. ;)

Hmmm... Reverend...."Hand to Cain Combat" Interesting biblical take on self defense...

My word ... it took TWELVE DAYS before someone FINALLY caught that! I thought NOBODY was going to catch it! :(

Good job, nexus. I debated wether or not to leave it when I saw it after it posted. I could have edited it out, but I decided not to to see if anybody would either (1) get picky on spelling, or (2) catch the multiple layers of humor in it. :) Given how you responded, I gather you caught the play on words and are not just violating TOS by pointing out a perceived case of poor spelling?

Layers... hmmm(again).... but is Hand-to-Cain an "offputting" (as in "speak to the hand 'cause the soul's not listening") or assistive (as in help out-help reform) gesture?
