Ruby Princess

Cruise News Daily (www.cruisenewsdaily.com) reports in today's edition that the next Princess ship - sister to Crown and Emerald - will be called Ruby Princess. Kudos to those of you who already knew it. ;)

 

As for the name, my opinion is simply this - "gag." :eek: Why the heck can't Princess stick to its own naming convention - there's no need to try to be NCL when it comes to ship names.

I have always said it would be Ruby. I also, said the last ship would be named Emerald. So, we will all wait and see. ;)

Maybe not. But there are the Silver Princess, the Platinum Princess, the Topaz Princess, the Garnet Princess and the Opal Princess. You heard it first hear folks.

 

My bet is on the Opal Princess!!!!!!!!!! If I should win I expect a trip on the inugural cruise. After all, I did name the Emerald and the Ruby Princesses.

When you run out of good names, maybe it's time to quit building ships. At least Princess hasn't succumbed to the temptation to name a ship "Freedom Princess" or "Liberty Princess". Like there isn't enough confusion out there anyway with cruise lines copying each other.

I don't guess Ruby is any worse than using Diamond, Sapphire, and Emerald -- I just hope they don't use Tanzanite! It would be appropriate for all the jewelers hawking it in the ports.

The name fits with the rest of the stone names they have out there...but the name Ruby just sounds odd...ogh well...its beautiful class of ships and aside from the name will be undoubtedly incredible

Ruby does have a gaudy, gypsy like ring to it. I don't care for the name myself, a bit cheapish.

I have always said and still say that it should be Platinum Princess. Now that is a class name.

My guess is after Ruby they will stop with the gems...diamond, ruby, sapphire & emerald are the PRECIOUS stones....the others are all SEMI-precious....

I like the name Ruby Princess. As mentioned before it could be named to enhance jewelry sales on the ship. ie AMMOLITE PRINCESS or TANZANITE PRINCESS. be carefull what you ask for -- you may get it.
