CruiseDuck Posted September 16, 2007 #101 Share Posted September 16, 2007 The one time I wish I had a camera at muster was when an elderly man came to the muster with a donald duck inflatable ring around his waist and wearing his mask and snorkel. I'm sure everyone has seen the dreaded 'muster look drill' on everyone's face. When that man showed up the whole mood in the place lightened up. He even had the crew smiling. Yes, I do believe that the muster is an important drill that should be taken seriously. As every motivational speaker will tell you if you make people relax they are much more likely to hear, and remember, what you are saying. Just my 2 cents worth........ cv322 Posted October 10, 2007 #108 Share Posted October 10, 2007 On many, possibly all  of our cruises....I've seen people taking pictures before and after muster drill...and I've never done it. Mostly because it never occurred to me. But we're leaving in 10 (YEA!! COUNT 'EM 10 ) days & I will absolutely bring my camera to the drill... take pictures before, take pictures after...and share them with you when I return! :D And also, for what it's worth...I'm very sure of this info having asked specifically about it: In a real emergency they DO NOT want you to return to your stateroom to retrieve life jackets. You're supposed to go directly to your muster station. Chris

Everyone joked when i got home that my life must be complete now cuz i went on my first cruise and got the shot!!! haha im a dork:D and we payed attention like good little kiddies unlike our drill mates who were busy getting drinks at the drink station (we are on the lido deck)...i waited till after the drill was complete to get mine:cool:
Cuizer2 Posted October 25, 2007 #110 Share Posted October 25, 2007 Well, this is related to muster drills (sort of) ... The Italian lines, in an effort to look a little more upper class, have asked a local carpenter (yes, these are made out of wood in Italy) to redesign their lifeboats. So, what do you think? Aplmac Posted November 10, 2007 #115 Share Posted November 10, 2007 Here's one picture taken just before the always entertaining muster drill.Isn't she supposed to be wearing that vest? Yeaah but maybe she's like my wife - not the easily perturbed type who found the lifejacket to be confining enough that a claustraphobia of sorts set in and she had to take it off! I thought it was just a PITA ...................... Thanks to the person who informs that the system doesn't want you to return to your room for your L.Jacket. This inspires much confidence, particularly in the storage location of your Life Jackets. Presumably there's a double set somewhere on Lifeboat Deck so I'll still have one, when I arrive without my cabin-based item? Hope none of us ever have to find out! Aplmac Posted January 20, 2008 #123 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Just got back from a cruise on a UK ship - Ocean Village Two- where the muster drill was a considerably more civilized affair than the boring standing-around-waiting ordeal we had on Carnival Destiny Our Muster station was the Casino where we were invited to have a seat in comfortable casino chairs. We were then given a long and informative talk complete with sample alarm bell sequence and suchlike - and only at the very end were we required to actually don the damned thing and buckle it up! . Rare pierces Posted January 20, 2008 #125 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Muster drill abstract. We were lucky enough to muster in a lounge and the bright orange reflections were too much of a temptation... I like the concept of being required to put on you vest to attend a drill that demonstrates how to put on you vest. Dave
