Which side of ship is best

Recommended Posts

We are doing the med. cruise 7 day round trip out of Barcelona, then to Malta, Naples, ROme, Livorno, and last Villefranche. We are getting a balcony. Which side do you think would be best for these ports?

I used to worry about this but we don't now. We just focus on getting a cabin that is in the middle of the deck.

I have been to ports multiple times and sometime one side will have a better view and sometimes the other side will have a better view since sometime the ship docks in different areas of the port or on different sides. So, I would focus on finding the best cabin and not worry about which side.

I agree with previous poster. BTW In Villefranche you usually tender in & the prevailing currents can mean the ship moves round its anchorage so you get different views from your balcony.

I don't think the view from the dock matters, but I do like to see the lights along the coastline as we sail. For our last Med cruise I wanted to be on the right side for the sail-in to Venice. Look at the map of your itinerary to help make your choice. In Naples we lucked out because where we docked we had a great view of the bay and Vesuvius from our balcony, but Livorno and Civitvecchia were ugly.

For the flight home from BCN to Philly from the right side of the plane you could see the Alps, and Paris, we were on the left side and just saw some of the Alps.
