okfarmerswife Posted August 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2007 Before and it was great to help me plan as well as meeting some great folks on the roll call board then on the ship!
cherylandtk Posted August 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2007 After, but my first cruise pre-dates the internet.:p (OK, OK, not really for the 1969 purists. But CC and widespread internet usage did not exist in 1984)
OceanDreamin Posted August 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2007 I had been on four cruises before finding Cruise Critic. I had just booked my 5th cruise - which was my first cruise in 14 years - and came looking for information since I KNEW things had changed so much. Also I was looking to sail with a child for the first time. What a great resource! Now I get warm fuzzy feelings when I can help other people.:)
rebeljohn Posted August 27, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2007 I found CC while researching our Zenith cruise in Nov. 2001. My four pre-2000 cruises was before CC existed.............
TheWaywardTraveler Posted August 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2007 Found it after we booked, but before we sailed. The info really added to our enjoyment of the cruise!
carlmm Posted August 27, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 27, 2007 I booked my first cruise quite spontaneous without having much information besides those provided by the TA. Thus I learned the hard way to have a better idea about the differences between cruiselines to find the one that is right for you. Now I like to get information as much as giving advice and sharing information.
Spikesgirl Posted August 27, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 27, 2007 Found CC way after our first cruise...many cruises after. Internet wasn't around when we started cruising. Now I find it a great place to touch base with fellow cruisers, get info and just feel like maybe the next cruise isn't that far away. May4 Posted August 27, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 27, 2007 I had a few cruises' worth of experience before I found CC. Before I posted for the first time I had fun reading what other people had to say. It's more fun than working:D
gadaboutgal Posted August 27, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2007 After--and glad I did. I have learned so much from all the good sailors on this board. Thank you all so much.
Mary Ellen Posted August 27, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 27, 2007 Had to be after. Our first cruise was in Sept., 1980. That isn't counting the 'crossings' DH had as a child when the Army was transferring his father to bases around the world.
Sandytoes Posted August 28, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 28, 2007 After, but my first cruise pre-dates the internet.:p (OK, OK, not really for the 1969 purists. But CC and widespread internet usage did not exist in 1984) LOL!...:D ~~~~~~~ Well after my first cruise...If I only had a PC back than maybe I wouldn't have gone on that Cannibal cruise..;)...:D
cruiserbryce Posted August 28, 2007 #13 Share Posted August 28, 2007 a passenger on my first cruise recommended it as a place to pass the time while waiting for your next vacation to come around:p boy was she right
phoenix1181 Posted August 28, 2007 #14 Share Posted August 28, 2007 Many cruises after............ Until my DIL told me about this site, I had no clue. I booked several cruises, paid the full fare and never gave a thought to discounts, price drops, or incentives from my agent! I know better now! dforeigner Posted August 28, 2007 #15 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I was glad to find this site before our first cruise. I like to research stuff before taking a trip.
glgolfer Posted August 28, 2007 #16 Share Posted August 28, 2007 First cruise in 87. As others have said, before the internet.
klct39lg Posted August 28, 2007 #17 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I found CC after my first cruise in 2002, but before my second in 2006. It is so much fun planning a cruise and reading threads about other's experiences, good and bad. I learn from it all!:D
CaptData Posted August 28, 2007 #18 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I found Cruise Critic a week before my first cruise from the Princess board.

Hoyaheel Posted August 28, 2007 #20 Share Posted August 28, 2007 After, but my first cruise pre-dates the internet.:p My first cruise predates Cruise Critic too (1986) but I came here before my first cruise as an adult (2006) Since that wasn't an option in the poll, I chose "after":D But I think I joined a while before we booked that 2006 cruise (a year or so, maybe, but in this dialog box I can't see my join date;) )
CRUISIN'w/friends Posted August 28, 2007 #21 Share Posted August 28, 2007 My first cruise pre-dates CC also.
Happy ks Posted August 28, 2007 #22 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I think CC was around before my first cruise in 1998, but I wasn't an AOL user. I think for a while they were only open to AOL. I have been a memeber since 2000, though, my sign in states 2002, when I had to re-register. It's a great place to learn all about cruising, sometimes too much :)
BobBeaSea Posted August 28, 2007 #23 Share Posted August 28, 2007 My first cruise was in 1990, Al Gore hadn't yet invented the internet as we know it today :). If I had found this site BEFORE my first cruise, I wouldn't have gone!! (Just a little joke for the OP, pertains to another thread :))

cb at sea Posted August 29, 2007 #25 Share Posted August 29, 2007 After our 1st cruise! Actually, I'm kind of glad--we didn't suffer at all not knowing about this site! Discovery is a wonderful thing, so we read the brochure (over and over!!!) did a bit of research, and then were totally AWED by our 1st ship! I personally think it's better to discover cruising BEFORE you start getting everyone elses opinion!
