Kyle, loved the pictures and those in the Cathedral were special. We will long remember those words of Captain McNaught that you printed to go with the photo, think that everyone was emotional at that point. It was nice sharing a table with you on what was an unsurpassable cruise,

Super photos Kyle, brought back so many lovely memories especially the ones in the Cathedral, as Captain McNaught said 'we will not see her like again'. I only took one of the concert right at the start I wish I had taken more or could buy a video of it.

Coolgran

Thank you all for the complements :)

Glad you enjoyed the photos, I sure enjoyed being there taking them! :D

Maureen and John, it was a pleasure having your company at dinner each evening.

Let's do it again!

All the CCers on this cruise, what a fine time we had. Our own Dream Ride.

oh, and my apologies for trying to get into the wrong cabin during the Cavalcade... Yikes!

Thankyou for a lovely pictorial record of her trip to Greenock and Liverpool (was relieved not to see it up on bricks!:D), will probably not have been privvy to those scenes otherwise.

Fantastic photos.

Also loved the funnel run pics, blimey, Id be too scaredy-cat to do that.

What a marvelous picture!

I'm telling you, Leo is going to be a heart stealer!

Such a tow-head!

And a great smile.

Another hightlight of the 40th Anniversary Cruise was, like any evening on QE2, dinner.

But for this cruise, it was more special than usual.

Each night we had a souviner menu, printed especially for the anniversary cruise, and different each night of the cruise.

It was fun arriving at the table each evening to see what was going to be the subject of that night's menu. The subjects being specific to QE2 and to Cunard history.

The dinner menu offerings were the usual fare.

The menus were six pages, the middle two being the menu, and the first and last two with special photographs and text on that evenings subject.

They were printed on heavy card stock, and I believe were the same in each restaurant, save for the usual menu offerings.

Upon arriving in our cabin, we found our first gift of the cruise. A special box to hold our collection of souviner menus. At first I didn't know why we had an empty box presented to us, it had to be explaned to me what they were for.

The menu box.

When I saw the subject and the heading, it was like a punch to the chest, another dose of the reality that our QE2 is soon to be history.

Most of you will recognise the image, with QE2 added... :(

The subject of this menu is QE2 herself. The photographs and text are familiar, history, statistics, etc.

On the back cover:

"To sail on QE2 is to know why Britain was once the envy of the world"

Dame Beryl Bainbridge

"A Tribute to Tyneside Cunarders"

As QE2 was making her maiden call to the River Tyne on this day, we pay tribute to the Cunard ships born on this same river.

On the cover the famous CARPATHIA is featured.

The first two pages recount Carpathia's roll in rescuing all survivors of the Titanic, her roll in WW1 and her end by torpedo attack.

Last two pages feature the Vistafjord/Caronia and a chronological list of Cunard ships built on the Tyne.

On the back cover:

"A hand greater than mine was on the wheel that night"

Master of Carpathia Captain Arthur Rostron

"A Tribute to the Tyneside Cunarders"

An image familiar to most of us on the cover, the great Mauretania.

The first two pages and the fifth feature the history of the Mauretania, and the last page repeats the list of Tyneside Cunarders.

On the back cover:

"For 28 years, I have striven to be a credit to you, and now my day is done.

Though I pass on, may Tyneside ever reach out to further and greater triumphs.

With pride and affection, I great you.

Farewell.

Mauretania"

Message sent from Mauretania to the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, as Mauretania pauses offshore on her way to the breakers yard.
