nps001 Posted December 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 25, 2007 It's Christmas Eve, and here I am browsing the CC boards. I have posted several times suggesting future cruisers enjoy their cruise, and don't board the ship looking for "frayed sofas, surly staff, bad food, etc". I thought I did an admirable job of remaining positive and looking at the glass as being half full, even in not the best of situations. Reading this humbled me. If I had this same experience, there is NO way that I would have been as upbeat. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=679082 Happy Holidays to all of you. judyfssw Posted December 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 25, 2007 The review was wonderful. I wish that I had his sense of humor. His ability to make lemonade out of lemons is wonderfu.
cruiseacecat Posted December 25, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 25, 2007 Thanks so much for posting this. I would never have seen it otherwise. Excellent writing and great sense of humor. Probably has a great time wherever he goes. Anne

Drew B Posted December 25, 2007 #7 Share Posted December 25, 2007 I would love to have seen how some of my more hysterical shipmates from the 5/7/06 Summit cruise would have responded to THIS cruise! I wish my ship had been filled with passengers like this reviewer...
spearmint Posted December 25, 2007 #8 Share Posted December 25, 2007 Thanks for the heads up. I also would never have come across this review. If you are reading this and have not read the Original Poster's mentioned review, you should. It is full of one-liners that will have you laughing and shaking your head in disbelief! Look for the glass bottomed boat reference...:D
babylene Posted December 25, 2007 #9 Share Posted December 25, 2007 How about the kitchen staff fishing from the back of the ship? Actually, would be a great idea. We'd get fresh fish!
CathyK2 Posted December 25, 2007 #10 Share Posted December 25, 2007 I'm going to be taking the Infinity in March and so had been following the happenings of the Dream since the Infinity was the ship that had been blocked in. Obviously people on the Dream were NOT happy. But reading a review like this...wow...I laughed and couldn't help but feel that we can choose to be miserable or we can make the best of a bad situation. This passenger found humor and brought it to all of us to read. I wouldn't have found this review on my own since I'm not sailing NCL, so thank you for linking it to us. But it really is good reading and Sailor Jack is the type we all would love to be sailing with. Cathy
Kathie44 Posted December 25, 2007 #11 Share Posted December 25, 2007 O M G!!! I laughed so hard, I was gasping for breath as I made an emergency run to the potty. Thanks so much for this Christmas gift of laughter. My endorphins are sky high! Spearmint is right--I cruise RCCL and X and would never seen this without the link. I posted on the NCL thread that the writer should try out to replace the writers on strike for the late night talk shows. Merry Christmas everyone! Laughter IS the best medicine. :D
SheilaNC Posted December 25, 2007 #12 Share Posted December 25, 2007 What a wonderful 'gift of gab' - this is a fine story teller with a wonderful attitude and a delightful sense of humor. We, too, laughed til we cried. Wouldn't you like to cruise with a ship full of folks with attitudes like his. I recommend it for required reading by all who cruise! Thanks, SailorJack and to the OP for posting.

CatServants Posted December 26, 2007 #14 Share Posted December 26, 2007 Priceless! Thanks for posting this link! I'm sorry for all the Dream pax, but this review made Randy and I laugh out loud...repeatedly. SailorJack and SailorJill certainly know how to find the proverbial silver lining. Happy cruising! jakedoc Posted December 26, 2007 #15 Share Posted December 26, 2007 One of the best reviews I've ever read. Great to see someone who enjoys life however it's served.
DocJohnB Posted December 26, 2007 #16 Share Posted December 26, 2007 Not only does that reviewer never see the glass as half empty, I think he usually has a mostly empty bottle nearby at all times. What a hoot! I think this is the cruiser all of us hopes is assigned to our dining table.
peanutter Posted December 26, 2007 #17 Share Posted December 26, 2007 NPS001 - thanks so much for posting this to the Celeb site - I would have missed it for sure. This is the best thing I have read on here in a while. Just wonderful!

richsea Posted December 26, 2007 #19 Share Posted December 26, 2007 That was THE wittiest review I have ever read!! If he hasn't been published, he certainly should be! I also read a few of his other posts, & you can see his humor in some of them. He reminds me of Nelson DeMille.
satchiesmom Posted December 26, 2007 #20 Share Posted December 26, 2007 What a wonderful, funny and good humored review! I hope to sail with SailorJack and SailorJill someday. petesweet Posted December 27, 2007 #21 Share Posted December 27, 2007 Hello all you good people on this thread. I've never been this way before. I usually read on NCL and RCCL. Wasn't SailorJack wonderful? Some of you who are positive people might enjoy our "Sunshine Cruisers" thread. Come join us. Cathi has a wonderful website that accompanies it. Drew B Posted December 28, 2007 #24 Share Posted December 28, 2007 Ah, Lois, I'm surprised you're missing the other big point here -- even ships that DON'T have a "known problem" can face disastrous cruises. Cruising really is a crap shoot. Isn't it? :p
