kitty9 Posted December 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2007 I believe it's when the ship has to do certain things to prevent the spread of a virus on the ship. They take away the salt and pepper shakers, they don't put the bread baskets on the tables, and they have the hand sanitizers out everywhere. I also think that they have crew members serving all items in the buffet.

Don't know where you saw this so I do not know how it was used or in what context. District Sales Managers for Celebrity will e-mail a spreadsheet to TA's listing sailing along with a color code for each sailing. In this context the "Code Red" means that the ship is sold out. Yellow is when the ship is selling fast, i.e limitted availability and Green wide open. When it is Red TA's should exercise caution in selling it, as a wait list may not clear if a wait list is even available

Too bad so many passengers have to be rude to the staff and crew about it:(...its as though they think that hard working waiter or cabin attendant is responsible for it. Hebe Posted December 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2007 We were in Code Red on our Century TA. It did mean that we had a certain number of cases of Noro. My understanding is that a ship remains in Code Red -- until it has no new cases of Noro for 72 hours after the last case of Noro leaves Quarantine. bububr Posted December 30, 2007 #7 Share Posted December 30, 2007 The ship and res. In Res. a code red means sold out/a stoppage of sales/or possible cancellation of a sailing. On Board it means ANYTHING that can act as a transmission element for a virus, i.e. shakers, bar snacks, buffet items, rare cooked meats, etc....are removed for the passengers safety until the virus is contained to an acceptable level. It also means BLEACH!:D . If someone is infected and does NOT wash their hands thoroughly, picks up a salt shaker...the next person that uses that item, and does not wash their hands immediately and simply continues to dine has a higher chance of being infected as the virus is USUALLY transmitted hand to mouth. While it can be passed on though food and beverages, IMHO it happens a lot quicker if one uses an infected item then eats or touches their eyes or face. TeaBag Posted February 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 5, 2012 We were in Code red when we boarded Mercury in 2007. When the situation improved, we moved to Code orange. It is definitely related to the number of Noro cases on board.
