When you get home do you find yourself missing those "little" things?

We sailed the Dawn on Jan. 6th and after arriving back home here's the "little" things we missed. How about you?

  • I feel the need to place a hand sanitizing station in my kitchen
  • Flushing the toilet at home doesn't scare me half to death
  • When my husband goes to the bathroom all the entertainment is gone. I could hear him banging his elbows and everything else just trying to maneuver around. It was hilarious! (he's not a small guy)
  • I miss walking into a restaurant, eating and then just leaving with no bill to pay
  • When we go to bed we miss the latest towel animal creation

I can't wait to go on our next cruise in January 09. These fun "little" memories will keep me going until then. What "little" things do you miss?

You can always make little adjustments to your bathroom to bring back the 'good times' - like building false walls so there's barely any room to turn around and adding sound effects.

There was also a book on how to do the towel animals, so you can always try your hand at those next time around.

Actually the hand sanitizer station in front of the kitchen is a pretty good idea, especially if you have kids.

I do miss not having the bill at the end of a night out though! Guess that's why we keep cruising!

The little things I miss -

chocolates on the pillows

someone else cleaning and doing my laundry

having something neat to see and do every day

always finding someone interesting to chat with - but that's what CC is for!

Buckets of beer, well I guess I can do my own.

Having an ocean view balcony, my deck just doesn't cut it, seeing i back onto a busy street.

DW doesn't want to get dressed up in formal for KFC

I take a lot of pics but I have enough of my 4 cats and dog

My room being cleaned

Food around every corner

I miss the warm ocean..food all time...afternoon naps if we wish too then having the bed all made again when we get back with the lights turned down and the bed. I miss the balcony door opened when we go to sleep and the sound of the waves. I miss the whole cruise experience.

By little things do you mean:

  1. Having my bed made every morning?

  2. Having my meals cooked?

  3. Having my meals brought to me?

  4. Having some else clear the table and "wash" the dishes?

  5. Finding my bed turned down, a mint on my pillow and a cute towel animal on my bed or bedside table?

  6. Meeting new and interesting people?

  7. Traveling to exotic ports?

  8. Not having to worry about deadlines?

  9. Not having to unjam, jammed fax machines?

  10. Not having to rush back to the office because I only have one hour for lunch?

  11. Not having to wake up at 5:00 AM every morning facing a 45 minutes drive to the office?

  12. Enjoying a broadway style show without having to drive 3 days and nights to get to Broadway:p ?

YES I DO MISS THE LITTLE THINGS!

Oh, without a doubt.

Funny bit about about the bathroom, though. Our master bathroom in the house we rent is about the size of a cruise ship bathroom, so we definitely do not miss that. In some cases, cruise ship bathrooms have been bigger. ;)

Okay - things I miss:

* chocolates on the pillow every night.

* Biggest decision - what to wear to dinner.

* Having the beds made and turned down every morning and night.

* Waking up to a new outside view every day.

* Sitting by the pool deck, watchhing the world go by.

* Flashing my soda card, and having a glass or can of diet coke in my hand. They didn't appreciate it when I tried to show it at the restaurant after we got off the ship ;)

Oh yes, every minute of every day. That's why I spend way too much time on these boards getting my cruise fix! I miss:

That sigh of relief when all luggage is in the cabin.

Having DH's complete attention.

Breakfast on the veranda.

Sipping wine on the veranda and pina coladas by the pool.

Biggest descision of the day is what to order for dinner.

Slow dancing with DH (almost never happens at home).

Being rocked to sleep by the gentle waves.

I need to book another cruise NOW!:D

I miss all those things and more!!! That's why I NEED to have another cruise booked so I have a date to dream on!

Like someone suggested hubby seems to think I should "dress" for dinner at the local less than fancy restaurant!!! NOT!!

I've always said that cruising really is a women's holiday since the hardest decision of the day is what to order for dinner.

I miss:

1. The romantic feeling that comes over both my husband & I once we leave the house to start our trip.

2. The sunsets over the water.

3. The lone little birds or pelicans that make their way to our cruise ship out in the middle of nowhere it seems just to hang out with us.

4. Having room service delivered each morning as our wake up call.

5. Massages at sea, you wouldn't think that you could BE more relaxed.

6. Sneaking away to our cabin in the middle of the afternoon...

The list is long...

We've been home from a cruise on the NCL Gem for under 2 weeks. Ate out at a nice, not chain, restaurant tonight. Realized I missed the hostess holding the chair while I sat down and then place the napkin on my lap. Also missed the caring waiters who whared their life with you as you shared your life with them.

I also miss the wine on the aft balcony as we sailed away from port each day.

Many of you have covered most of mine, so I'll just say I agree with most of the above.
