sea++ Posted February 20, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 20, 2008 Here's the chart I got from the Dawn 10 day Southern Caribbean cruise in 2005. My wife took the chart, which came rolled in a tube, and framed it along with the picture we got with the captain on the bridge.

BigGuy25 Posted February 20, 2008 #14 Share Posted February 20, 2008 The chart that I was bidding on during our Tahiti - Hawaii Tahitian Princess cruise was quite elaborate. Really a work of art. In addition to charting the course of our travel, it included autographs of all the senior officers, a small chart was mounted on the large chart that showed arrival and departure times in ports as well as distances traveled. There were other pieces mounted on the chart that gave some history of the ports visited. And, little "flags" were added and attached next to the islands we visited that gave their names. That's what I recall .. and I think there was more. It was really very nice. I guess it all depends on the "artistic talents" of the staff member assigned to prepare the chart. King Neptune Posted February 20, 2008 #15 Share Posted February 20, 2008 The chart from our Panama Canal trip on the Island Princess went for $500. It wasn't actually a chart used during the trip it was more of a decoration and was actually outside the Lido all week on display.

cherylandtk Posted February 20, 2008 #17 Share Posted February 20, 2008 On our last cruise the chart auction was unusual and the Vista Lounge was SRO, out the door and had many crew and staff members attending and betting on the final price...but that was because that cruise had a man overboard situation and the chart showed the search pattern in addition to the cruise itinerary. The final price was also unusual, well over $3000.
NeurosurgeryNP Posted February 21, 2008 #18 Share Posted February 21, 2008 Did they get the people rescued?
cherylandtk Posted February 21, 2008 #19 Share Posted February 21, 2008 Yes, they did. Six hours after they went over, which is a long time to tread water in choppy seas in the dark.
