Voyager dining room noise level

Recommended Posts

We are on the voyager on the April 30 ft. lauderdale to Barcelona. I am slightly hearing challenged, a result of a misspent youth( three years in a tank unit before hearing protection was a priority). Background noise is a problem,(my wife says only when she is talking). what is the noise level is in the voyager main dining room as well as the two reservation areas. I do have a hearing aid, just hate to wear it. Thanks !

Well, I must say, I find it quite noisy. All the main dining rooms on Regent are. I am not officially hear-impaired, and my mis-spend youth was just listening to lots of loud bands, but I find it tough, especially having conversations across a table for 6 or 8. But you'll be in good company--lots of folks have trouble carrying on a good conversation in this environment. Just 'fess up, fellow pax are pretty accommodating.

Many times it is difficult to talk across the table to people. My DH and I sit next to each other which we find more intimate and much easier to hear each other and those next to us (I do not have a hearing problem - yet -- probably down the road a bit..... that darn loud music:-)

Old grump, I'm one too! I've gotten to the point where I don't want to be at a table larger than 6, with maybe a 7th added on at same sized table, because it is hard to talk! Those tables in the middle of the room are impossible for large tables, so noisy. I much prefer being off the the side, don't even care anymore if it is at the window.

I am deaf in my left ear, but I haven't noticed any problem in the Compass Rose. Now, I have compensated for the hearing loss a lot--I sit where my right ear is more toward the conversation, etc. And ambient background noise is a problem in a lot of places, but didn't notice it on Voyager.

I agree with Rachel - I too have a problem hearing when there is a lot of background noise and I hate asking people to repeat themselves. But I have never noticed this problem on either Mariner or Voyager...I have to add that we generally either have a table for two, or sometimes we travel with one friend so it's for three...so perhaps a larger table would be a problem.

Old Grump - we are on the same cruise! Won't be long till we sail!

Happy to share a table and I promise to speak up if I have anything to add to the conversation. My own hearing abuse was small airplanes, chain saws, and playing in a rock band! ouch!
