My cruise is finally getting a bit closer and I know it is going to go so fast. Just thinking that makes me sad. But we will have such a fabulous time I am going to try and not think about that and think about what all we will do. I changed our Stateroom today. We had a Outside but I have been so unhappy about that since I booked it that I finally decided to do something about it. We now have a balcony and it looks fabulous.

Mateacher, some people can be so rude and mean. It make it hard for the new ones to want to post there questions. I had a woman to call me a troll and went as far as telling my age over a simple question that I gave my opinion on. Yes, the thread got delete. Most of the time, everyone is kind and helpful. To me I answer question honestly. And if you look at some of my answers it would look as though im a basher of ccl. Im not. I had a poor experience with the last cruise and did alot of firsts. some people are thinking of doing a first on ccl and are seeking honest answers. I hope I dont get tagged as a basher. My next vacation will be spent on shore. does this make me bad?? I do enjoy the people on the ccl side of things, thats why I stay.

AWWW in my defense my post got poofed. I just said that I try not to abuse the triangle, but it does say if posters are fighting or being rude to report them. I don't think you should just report anyone, but if they ARE being rude it's a valid way to make sure they know it's not right.

I just started looking more at other boards lately. I post mostly on Costa board because we have sailed the last 3 years with them. ALL GOOD! Anyway it has gotten bad often and it really upsets me.

 

For all of you who say use the triangle/ don't use it. It was my impression that it is to be used if someone is not following the guidelines. The follow is a direct copy from the guidelines on CC.

I hate to say I feel like the CC police lately. :( My last few post have all been on this subject. A big part of me says to just stop reading, but I LOVE THE INFO ON THESE BOARDS. I have saved LOTS of money, recieved great ideas that have made my cruise easier, found answers to many questions, met nice people, and learned about great excursions that my family and I will remember for a life time. Maybe I need meds. to get over this fixation of following the rules. Which of course, at times I don't do to my best at following.

I promise besides the folks that are mean spirited the majority is here because they love cruising, helping others and learning neat stuff! Here is a neat tip for you, under your profile click to subcribe to threads you post on. The Carnival board goes fast! This will be long gone by the time you get back. Costa board a thread may stay on the 1st page for a week, maybe even two now that they have gone back to Europe for the summer.

 

For those wondering what I am doing on Carnival boards: We are looking at the Freedom for Spring break next year. Costa goes transatlantic early and our boys are looking for more entertainment on a ship next time. I have been reading as much as I can keep up with since we got back last week from our cruise so I can book with my casino winnings before I spend it!!!;)

i'm not sure what exactly was said but the one thing i have noticed is how easily people are offended by typed words. some people should thicken their skin a little......but in the case of a new user some people should use common sense and realize that alot of people don't visit this site every day and may really be looking for help

I gotta say my feeling were hurt. My post on the other thread was swiffered away. I didn't think it was mean or insulting and if it was I truly apologize.

 

I hate when new posters are automatically labeled trolls because their question isn't expressed the way someone else thinks it should be. But I definitely don't want to harass anyone. If you think someone is truly a troll just don't read that thread. It's not like there are no other threads to read.

I am kinda surprised that this thread is still going... I have always been kind of afraid to write anything other than responses to things I have loved reading, just because of some of the things i read. It's a common problem often seen on message boards, this one isn't the first.

 

On one hand, you've got your forum 'newbies', some of which

A. are overwhelmed by the forum and search engines, and ask questions that have already been asked many, many times,

B. people who have had a genuine negative experience and wish to share, hoping to enlight others, find out what the heck went wrong, or to just vent about a vacation gone bad, or

C. the true trolls, who imitate A or B so as to provoke everyone.

 

Then you've got your forum's 'long-timers', the folks familiar with the forum, even other members, yada yada. To them,

A. they've seen the same subject threads come up so many times it's past the point of aggravating,

B. they've seen their fair share of trolls, and those are aggravating,

C. they sometimes think people complain for no good reason, some even believing a bad experience just isn't possible on a cruise, and/or

D. they wish more folks would make use of the search engine...after all, it's easy and really helpful!

 

These 2 groups are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. The ones that rise above are the ones that offer insight or commentary (even if it's sometimes negative), but without offending anyone personally...IMO :)

What I hate to see is when someone posts something thats a few days old and then people go crazy on them and tell them they should have done a search before because their info has already been posted. I have not been able to use the search function in months. And then the people who come to a thread and tell everyone the discussion is over or its been beaten to death. If its so bad why are you on there reading about it again and who made them boss to decide when a thread is through. I was scared to post for the first time because of how mean some people are on here.

I needed one the other day. Now that the weather is nice all the nuts are comming out at night to get Ice Cream. I think its the lights that attracts them. I keep telling myself only 200 and some days untill my next cruise.
