I wish I worked for NCL don't you?

I'm a Theatrical Stage Manager onland (Vegas and national tours) and land based theatre is suffering right now so I have applied with the cruiselines. As I was just on the Star I got a good name in Miami and sent my resume....hoping:rolleyes:

Also, there is a company called C-Deck that recruites show personnel for the cruise industry and I passed my first interview this week:D They are referrring me to RCCL and I should have an interview with them next week. I would love nothing more than combining my love of theatre and cruising and getting paid for it!:p

 

(I've spent all day in the middle of the desert for a car commercial shoot and my brain is FRIED! If anything above is misspelt that is why!)

I tried to get my brother into looking at NCLA awhile back. He has navy and service industry experience and no ties to keep him ashore. But he never jumped at it and stayed in restaraunts. I guess it did work out for him because now he's a bar manager, promoted from waiter about five months ago. But the irony is that he's so work-logged that he can't even get the time off for a cruise now. :p

Didnt some cruiselines hire male escorts to dance with elderly women, they got their cruises paid for etc etc...... or was that a movie I saw:rolleyes: ???

Only have seen escorts once. We had two dance escorts about the Mississippi Queen. They pretty much stayed to themselves....they are not allowed to fraternize with the passengers..... they also had extra duties to perform. Seemed a pretty lonely job to me.

I'll just enjoy cruise ships as a passenger. Waiting on people, cleaning their messes, or dealing with their complaints, does not appeal to me.

I agree Barb I couldn't do what NCL employees do but I sure do appreciate what they do. These boards are lots of fun and some posts are to make a point. There are always negative posts and this was just meant to brighten things up a bit.:cool:

I worked for NCL for several years. They treated me very well. But it is one of the worst cruise companies to work for. Employee relations are very poor. Their Human Resources management is the worst in the industry.

 

I really don't mind working 13 hours a day for 8 or 9 months without a day off. I'm doing that right now (for a different - and much better - cruise line). But it is important to work for a company that appreciates your hard work and dedication.

 

Unfortunately NCL rarely appreciates their employees.

They were all great.

Philip.. just please know... the cruiselines may not apprecaite you..maybe one more than the other, etc.. but WE appreciate your hard work. Believe that. If there is one thing I have said and read consistantly it is that people are generally amazed at how hard you guys work.

He should come up with a little act, like the cruise director aboard the Majesty who started as a waffle maker in the buffet. Made up songs about waffles that got him attention and he moved up the ranks.
