ROYALBOY Posted May 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2008 We have booked on the Jewel for late next year...anyone know is she is scheduled for any upgrades or is she still too new on the line?:)
Cruising89143 Posted May 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2008 Still too new for any upgrades other than the two to three year dry dock. RCI does a great job in keeping their ships looking fresh and clean.
vickiw0318 Posted May 22, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2008 What kind of upgrades? The Radiance class is a really popular group of ships. Theres no Flowrider or large kid's waterpark (there is a children's pool area that looked lots of fun to me) or Johnny Rockets or a boxing ring, but there are both specialty restaurants, a great area aft on Deck 6 with self-leveling pool tables, the Seaview Cafe, etc. There is a beautiful centrum, but no promenade. I am really looking forward to comparing the class of ships to my first Freedom class ship on Saturday. The Radiance class offers much, much more than the Sovereign class ships like the Majesty. (I had fun on her, too.)
Cruise_Couple Posted May 22, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2008 Jewel of the Seas is exactly what her name implies... a JEWEL!!! Absolutely a magnificent ship in wonderful condition. You have nothing to worry about with this ship as your choice!
Gracie115 Posted May 22, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2008 We love the Jewel, have been on her once and then Mariner twice, which was nice, but we're headed back to the Jewel this November. Wonderful ship!!
cds2423 Posted May 22, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2008 I too will be sailing on the same cruise, i was on the Jewel a couple of years ago and as the previous poster said she really is a Jewel, my favorite ship so far. She's perfect just as she is, too bad we have to wait so long to board her. Cheers!
negc Posted May 22, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2008 I'm not sure what kind of "upgrades" you are expecting. Jewel and all the ships in the RCI fleet now have the new bedding and routine maintenance and replacement of worn carpeting and furnishings are usually done on a regular basis, often during a cruise. Not sure what they could do or add that might qualify as an 'upgrade'?
Rare silentbob007 Posted May 22, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 22, 2008 I just booked the Jewel ... it was my grandma's favorite ship (she was an uber-cruiser) and I've been meaning to go on her for a while now.
steve20832 Posted May 22, 2008 #9 Share Posted May 22, 2008 It was in dry dock about 9 months ago so it won't go back for about 2-3 more years. They did replace an engine and the ship was in great shape when we were on it in January.
