Peanuts Posted October 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2004 If you send your statement either to Carnival or TA be sure to "Black out" any reference to your account number, social security number or other stocks you may own that would show up on your statement. All they (Carnival or TA) need to see is you are an owner of X number shares.
Rare Cruisergal1208 Posted November 3, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 3, 2004 Just a note about sending this info to the cruise line. Be sure you send it to the specific cruise line you are using. Each one has their own fax number and just sending it to Carnival Cruise Lines will not work if you are sailing on Princess or HAL, etc. Hope this helps for future sailings. loudbmw Posted November 4, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 4, 2004 I faxed my proof of ownership right after final payment for our 11/19/04 Legend cruise. The $100 credit confirmation is printed on the docs we just received last week. This is the second time this year we have gotten the credit (8/04 Zuiderdam also). It hasn't disappointed me either that I paid $41 a share - it's now $51 and pays a modest dividend. Lou
ken56 Posted November 4, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 4, 2004 I have watched carnival stock since after 9/11/01.........after the terrorist attack in NY it fell to 16 a share...........watched it go up into the 20's and didnt buy then........ now its in the 50's. I think its great that the company extends this bennifit to its share holders.....and its good on all lines they own, not just carnival. happy cruising all

jiggs Posted November 4, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 4, 2004 I'm jelous ! lol the stock market is a beautiful thing isnt it ? on some stocks it is :) others are a different story :( CCL had their best qtr ever in the thrid qtr this year...stock seems poised to do well, although the mid 50s is an area it has struggled with before...the $100 is a nice perk and the dividend that they pay every year is nice too... Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted November 4, 2004 #12 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Lou - thanks for the REMINDER... I checked my DOCS for the 11/19 Legend, and there was  no mention of a credit... I called "Reservations Administration" today, and they told me they did not have my documentation of ownership (which I faxed - along with proof of military status - months ago). They were able to look at my booking for the Miracle next year - saw it there, and gave me (so they say) immediate credit on this sailing! JonV Posted November 5, 2004 #13 Share Posted November 5, 2004 I bought more shares the very first day of trading after the markets reopened so I could stimulate the economy. I bought mine at $19.31 per share. I bought the same number of shares as there were floors in the World Trade Center.
freddiebud Posted November 11, 2004 #14 Share Posted November 11, 2004 Just an update. After reading about this, I faxed a copy of my statement showing I owned CCL. I waited a week and called to confirm. They said to fax again. Within the hour, I got a note back listing about a dozen reasons why I could not get a credit. Some included booking for a holiday cruise or booking under a promotion. Bottom line, just because you own stock does not mean you will get a credit. Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted November 11, 2004 #15 Share Posted November 11, 2004 sounds fishy to me... I have sailed July 4th, and Thanksgiving (more than once) and booked under military rate too - and never had a problem getting the credit... 100+ shares = CREDIT... I would look deeper into this... If nothing else... the stock closed today at $53.00 !!! woo hoo Tom
freddiebud Posted November 11, 2004 #16 Share Posted November 11, 2004 You know, Tom, I thought it was fishy too. You just motivated me to give them another call. What do I have to lose?
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted November 12, 2004 #17 Share Posted November 12, 2004 Freddie: are you calling 800-438-6744 - ext - 70041? "Ray" there has been helpful! Tom
freddiebud Posted November 12, 2004 #18 Share Posted November 12, 2004 Tom: That is the number I call altho' I've actually never spoke to a live person. I left another message and will give them a couple of hours before I try again. I reread the fax and it says COUPON RESTRICTIONS so maybe they are confused. I will keep you updated. loudbmw Posted November 12, 2004 #19 Share Posted November 12, 2004 The annual CCL annual report lists the follwoing restrictions on getting the stockholder credit: Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates, tour conductors, or anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. I am not Carnival's lawyer, but I read this as if you paid a published fare including early booking discount, you should get a cabin credit. freddiebud Posted November 12, 2004 #20 Share Posted November 12, 2004 So after calling all day, I finally reached a real live person who said it was denied because they couldn't read the fax! Why didn't they just tell me that? Oh, well. I will refax and see what happens. :)

The cruising at a reduced rate is vague but I think that is referring to family of crew members, Military discounts and the like, not group bookings etc.. Most of us wouldn't be cruising unless we could get a reduced rate from the outrageous rack rate LOL! I have not been turned down yet and have always booked at really cheap rates. Good luck, I shouldn't think you will have a problem.
