iancal Posted June 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2008 We just booked our first Carnival Cruise. Pride from LA on March 4/09. Eight days. Is this a bad date, ie is at March break? We booked a BL guarantee. Have been on HAL, Princess, RCI, NCL, and Crystal. Any advice or comments. How is the Pride. Thanks

JRock59 Posted June 28, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 28, 2008 No one is allowed to say anything bad about Carnival here, sorry. :D DITTO! But you know someone will that's just the way they are. :( As for Spring Breaks I think they are more towards the end of March in to April. You'll have a GREAT time we always do! :D Ask questions on board if you have any the crew is usually happy to help. Be prepared for a few other passangers who are rude it's just like anywhere you go now, they are the only one who is there or who counts. ;) It's your cruise do as much or as little as you want. Suggestion, try something new in the dining room each night and if you love it ask for more if you hate it ask for something else. :) Trust me they will be very happy to bring you something else if you just don't like what is in front of you, it's OK to do so. If you like Lobster ask for two, if you want a surf and turf plate ask. We have never had a problem on CCL when it came to the dining room food or staff. And if you have questions before you go just post them on here, there are plenty of us who are happy to share our experiences! And remember life is what you make it so make yours HAPPY! CWcruisers Posted June 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Make sure and check out the supper club. It compares with Portifino's on RCI but they each have their own unique flavor. Remember, there are no bad cruises.
AK Wife Posted June 29, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2008 We had 10 people in our group for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on the Pride (June 07). It was awesome! We had 4 teenagers (and 2 sets of parents and a set of grandparents) with us and they had a terrific time. Check the roll call to see if someone has started a thread for this cruise yet. The ship is beautiful and we all had a great experience. Spring break varies so much around the country that it really may not be an issue. Enjoy! elaineb Posted June 29, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Ian - I don't think that many spring breakers would do an 8 day cruise, especially on a Spirit Class ship. Welcome to Carnival and have a great cruise!

And an 8 day cruise is longer than most of them take. So I doubt you'll get many breakers. Later, when spring break is in full bloom, they're mostly around the pool by day and the disco by night. They do jam up the buffet at lunch but they've provided us with as much entertainment as aggravation. Dan
iancal Posted June 29, 2008 Author #11 Share Posted June 29, 2008 I made a mistake,it is 7 days. Confused it with the Spirit. Like others, we have never had a bad cruise. We like seafood, but have found on most cruises that the lobster and/or crab just is not that great. DW orders it, I usually skip it. Much prefer the salmon if is well prepared. The qualitly seems better.
2PinaColadas Posted June 29, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2008 iancal-- All of our cruises have been over Spring Break since we are educators and DH does not have summers off. We always have a great time. The "kids" on board hang out together whether they are 8 or 18 and try to stay away from the "old" folks. ( We enjoy watching the college bunch. They are really funny.)
