Hey everyone,

I would like to start a poll to see just how often the smuggled alcohol gets through. I know we aren't supposed to do it, but a lot do. And if you don't want to admit to it, you can still vote just don't post.

Thanks!

I started this thread to show my family who are convinced their bar bill will be $500+ at the end of a week to cruise. If they can see that maybe they can bring some of their own then it could sway the decision, thank you to all who vote.

We were thrilled to see that my big box of wine made it thru in our luggage. I got a drink card and made my own wine coolers. The box was great because I didn't have to worry about anything breaking.

Ok it would not let me choose both. 10 Carnival cruises (and a few other cruiselines) and we got caught once on Carnival...........

Would you mind providing the details on the confiscation? Was there another issue that led to the discovery and confiscation? :)

They may not even care enough to check as hard as people think they do (if that makes sense:rolleyes: ).

What I mean is that they are probably losing very little money to the relatively few people that do sneak alcohol onboard. Especially considering how much it would cost to pay more staff to check enough bags to actually make a difference. They may figure that if they don't get you with the booze prices, they will with the photos, merchandise, spa visits, etc.

There are still plenty of people racking up million dollar S&S bills at the watering holes.

Even some who smuggled onboard, but drank it all too quick and had to pay for the last few days.;)

For the most part I don't think any of the cruise lines care as long as it is done in moderation. It's when people start wheeling in coolers that a real alarm goes off. That may sound funny but I actually saw that being done 10 years ago,

My friends and I went on the Legend in Feb. 08 and we had enough "listerine" to kill a small whale, plus whine, plus plastic flasks, plus plastic pints. None of ours got caught.

However, all of us still spent over $500 on booze that week. Let's be honest, when you're all the way at the front of the ship or hangin in the club/casino or on the lido deck. Sometimes, the last thing you want to do is walk ALL the way back to your room to get your booze.

Mainly we drank our during pregaming sessions before going out at night...

14 Carnival cruises and never had any taken...NCL now x-rays your checked luggage and if it see's something you have to go to the "naughty" room and open your bag...But I fooled them too by packing it right next to my shaving kit.....Dennis

I totally agree. We brought two boxes of wine on our last cruise. It was nice to have a drink while dressing for dinner, but we never wanted to go back to the room for a refill. We ended up buying most of our drinks and bringing the wine home. The drinks are not really that expensive if you stick with house wine and beer. It's the high end stuff that will run up your bill. We know a week's worth of drinks (on a cruise) for us will run about $400 so we just plan for it.
