Water banned on Carnival Cruise ships!

The filtered water out of the Lido dispensers is fine. I don't know if anyone would have a problem with you filling up your plastic bottles there - but I've done it and had no problems.

So have I. My only request is that people do NOT put the mouth of the bottle against the nozzle. Please? That's disgusting, and I've seen people do it. :(

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the water on the ship, especially when you get it cold from the buffet. When in the cabin, I just pour some of the melted ice into my glass for my nightstand glass.

I'm proud to NOT be a water snob. Sheesh. The obsession with bottled water is just about the silliest trend I've ever seen.

As with most things, this probably wouldn't be necessary if people were bringing on a small bottle or two. It's those who pack and wrap cases and are abusing the existing rules/guidelines that cause the problems.

Taking my first cruise on Carnival in August. Where on the Lido deck is water available? Is there a dispenser or do you mean from the bar or restaurant? Is ice available too?

There are a few places on the lido deck that have juices, ice, water, etc. available

Your filtered water that is that pure is actually not healthy as you are not getting any minerals that are found in normal water. Hope you're taking a good vitamin or you could have deficiencies. The whole purified water thing is such a scam and what a moneymaker for the beverage corporations. If my grandfather who lived on a farm and lived to a ripe old age drinking that water straight out of the ground heard we are paying for water in bottles he would call us completely nuts. How did we live without the bottled water 15 years ago? Very well thank you. Is there a difference in taste? Yep but not enough that you would be able to tell if you went back to tap water after a few days. The water we grew up with on the farm was full of iron and probably very good for us but I can't stand to drink it when I go back but give it to me for a week and it would taste normal again.

I guess it really depends on where you live. Your grandfather probably didn't have crap in his water back then either, like there is now (again, depending on where you live). I definitely notice the difference in my tap water plain versus when I filter it... it's what I prefer. I don't buy bottles like I once did because of the landfill concerns.. but I don't drink tap water, and even a few weeks wouldn't get me used to it. Did you have well water or city water at that farm?? LOL. I agree that it's quite a moneymaker, especially when people found out they were paying for city water with many of the brands... but not every city has great water. And I get more vitamins and minerals than I care for in the 4000 pills I take each day :p LOL

4000 pills...LOL, don't get me started on the overmedicating of americans. Grew up on the farm, completelely unfiltered other than what the ground took out of it. Probably got plenty of the fertilizer from the fields around the well too. Guess that's why many linemen on the football teams are good old farm boys that grew up drinking all those minerals and fertilizers to make them grow. LOL

I really think this was a post to get a spirited thread going. Notice that we have not heard from the OP since starting this thread. We will definitely know whether it is true or not when others start reporting back from various cruises whether they were able to bring on their choice of beverages. Also, for all those that say what is wrong with tap water because we drank it some 20 years ago and didn't have a problem with it then, I did not start drinking water until it became available in bottles. I never liked tap water. It was always easier to grab whatever was cold in the frig. I drink so much now because it is convenient and easier to transport.

Well, close to 4000 :p LOL... I love my vitamins, and minerals... i get plenty :D There is a difference though, like I was saying, in the water you grew up with, and city water. I learned that the hard way when I moved to the city.

their policy say s it for the purpose of controling

alcohol consumption and abuse by minors..

so i don t see where bring aboard seal d bottle d or

can d drink s would be of any harm..

instead of all these word game s..they can just say

we want to make more money off our passengers..

they don t say anything about..*we don t want anyone

bringing any beverage s onboard because it takes away

from our beverage sales*..i can see alot of people

choosing another cruise line for this reason alone..

a possible Poll?..If a cruiseline forbid the bringing of any beverage

onboard.. be reason enough to change cruiselines? Yes or No

LMAO, I was thinking the same thing. Other cruiselines have done the same thing... so not many would be jumping ship (no pun intended :p). The number of people that take stuff on board is small... it wouldn't affect most people if they do put this in place. The original time this came out, there had been a jumper that was drunk, off all the booze he snuck onboard... this policy came out soon after (as did RCCL's)... as to whether or not this is just the old policy someone found or they are trying it again, who knows.

Answer to the "poll"? Uh no, not even close to a reason to go to another cruiseline that will probably have the same policy... I don't bring sodas and water on now, wouldn't bother me one bit :D

Well, there is no change in wording of the FAQ or the cruise contract, and no announcement from Carnival so I'm gonna say this is a false alarm.

As a Carnival stock owner I have to agree that nothing should be allowed to be taken on the ship. Carnival needs to make money on drinks. We could call it a safety issue. We don't know what in those liquor bottles or water bottles. A young woman lost her life on a carnival ship 2 years ago when her boyfriend had drugs in his cough syrup. Use the ships stores, buy the drinks use the casino, book shore excursions, and by all means buy a lot of photo's. As a Carnival stock owner I thank you.

By all means. Just make sure you have a good stock of different brands of bottled water available for sale on board. I drink tap at home because it tastes fine and I'm used to it. I drink bottled when I travel because my stomach is sensitive and Montezuma likes to come visiting. But a lot of bottled waters have a strong bite to them that makes it impossible for me to drink them. For me, it's Evian or Fiji or nothing.

Vitamins and minerals in regular groundwater are naturally occurring. Anyone's grandfather should have had "crap" in his water back when. It was the antibiotics and the other drugs that people flush down their toilets they didn't have in their water.

As a well seasoned man, one of my fond memories of many years ago is going to my grandparents house in Tampa for the summer. One of the many things I remember is their shallow well, and the "delightful" sulphur water we drank out of it.

Trust me, if we survived that, there aren't many tastes and smells in city water that will chase you away. :)

I can only remember one cruise out of many where the water was sporadically not good to drink, and that was on a ship who remains nameless where there was pipe refitting going on, so a lot of crap was being knocked loose into the system. Otherwise, I've found ship's water quite good, albeit a bit warm most of the time straight out of the faucet. Then again, I live in Florida and our water is always warm in the summer.

LOL, I didn't mean literal crap :p:p

I travel with bottled water. I am permitted to have it due to health issues. I just show my medical card at the airport and off I go. Wonder if that will work with Carnival........Card reads bottled Aquafina. It is the only one that does not make my stomach go crazy.

Uh, nope, I don't think you get it back all that easily, unless they have paperwork to fill out and if you are willing to spend a fair amount of time over that issue rather than exploring the ship then I guess we're just different kinds of people.

I like Coke Zero, but I'm willing to bend my policy and drink other things. NO way am I going to drag stuff like that in my carry-on or risk having it crushed in my suitcase just to satisfy my peculiar tastes.

I'm with you. There are enough choices of everything on the ships. I can't imagine hauling water, soda, booze, juice and most of the other stuff people bring like duct tape and over-the-door thingies.......

I travel in a 22" suitcase and a small carryon. I holds my clothes..no room for anything else.

I agree with you completely. Can you imagine paying for water? And, they actually list the "nutritional" values on the label.

Lewis Black, the comedian, has a great take on bottled water in one of his shows......soooo true....

As for those who abuse the system as you have described - and those who smuggle booze and announce it all over the internet, they sure cause a lot of problems, don't they?

As if cruise boards aren't monitored....especially this one which is so big.

After taking out all the junk..a other filter adds back minerals

We have tested our water againts are pool water and the tap has a higher clorine level...pretty scary....

But if it makes your teeth whiter, it's worth it. :p :D

When RCCL banned water and soda from being brought on board there was talk about it. "...nary a peep..." is wrong. I think the OP is shiite-stirring. ;)
