Taxguy7 Posted August 8, 2008 #51 Share Posted August 8, 2008 NCL Crown, circa 1990 Royal Clipper....No other ship like her since steel ships. Faster under sail than on power, and comfortable either way.:)

Sundagger Posted August 8, 2008 #53 Share Posted August 8, 2008 I'd go with the Volendam, with the Zaandam a close second. I'm curious about the Amsterdam and Rotterdam - I suspect I'd rank them right around the top. I didn't care for the Vista ships, but haven't been on the Noordam that so many people rate highly. holidaybound Posted August 8, 2008 #54 Share Posted August 8, 2008 I don't have wide experience like many of you but I also remember fondly the Crystal Harmony. No HAL ship to compare yet......sailing on Noordam at Christmas.

usha Posted August 8, 2008 Author #56 Share Posted August 8, 2008 My favorites pretty much flip-flop between Infinity & Galaxy, probably since we had our best-ever cruises on those two ships. Actually, I never met I ship I didn't at least like.:)

knuterock8 Posted August 8, 2008 #63 Share Posted August 8, 2008 Out of 30 cruise ships we have been on 27 of them were wonderful. So to say 3 were not our favorite is not bad. It's a wonderful life on the DEEP BLUE SEA!
MightyQuinn Posted August 8, 2008 #64 Share Posted August 8, 2008 Interesting that HAL's co-flagships aren't higher on the list. A few folks gave the Rotterdam the top spot but nobody mentioned the Amsterdam as their fave. Guess they both can't take first place.
kenish Posted August 9, 2008 #65 Share Posted August 9, 2008 1. Infinity- Modern, contemporary, and sleek but still very elegant and upscale. 2. Zaandam- "Rightsize", feels like a ship and not a floating Vegas hotel/casino. Tradiitonal, nautical feeling. 3. Ellenis- First cruise, took us to amazing places, life was good (for a college student). 4. Carnival Paradise- A floating Vegas hotel/casino. tamsno Posted August 9, 2008 #66 Share Posted August 9, 2008 I subscribe to "any day at sea is better than one on land" but some were definitely more of a challange. The Old Noordam must be at the top of my list as it was my first cruise, first trip to Europe, first solo trip anywhere, 20-40ft seas for 2 days, and 9/11/01 happened four days out. The ship, although showing her age in some areas, weathered the seas well and the crew was wonderful throughout. Quite an experience. After 100+ days HAL has never once let me down. In order of preference Rotterdam, Volendam, Statendam/Zuiderdam, Westerdam. Eurodam NYC 3-day will be the next test. I'm not as impressed with Celebrity. Thanks to all the CC posters for their time and insight. Cindy
