Is this dress O.K. for formal night?

I am 35 yrs. old going on RCCL Mariner of the seas.Is this dress too much?I've always worn black and I've been losing weight so I needed a new one.What about the shine to the dress-too much?I have black shoes,will black work with this?Thank You

I really like that dress!I used to have a "royal purple" silk dress and I wore strappy black sandals with it. A metallic could work too, but if you have black shoes you like already, I think they'll be fine:D

I'd wear that dress--it's gorgeous. I wore a similar color in June with silver shoes but black would work too. Have fun!

I would do a metallic shoe, rather than black, but the dress is fine!

On vacations, I often wear shoes that "are fine" instead of shoes that are AWESOME, just because I want to pack fewer items and one pair will go with all my outfits;)

Looks very similar to the dress my maid of honor chose last year (34 at the time). Since then she has worn it to two other affairs so I'd say its perfect.

Does anyone know please if formal on the QE 2 means that women have to wear long dresses? Or will cocktail length be ok?

Formal on Cunard is typically full length, almost all men will wear a tux. I have seen ladies in a cocktail dress, but not many. If you have a cocktail dress you like you could certinaly wear it on thier semi formal nights.
