mathtchr Posted August 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2008 Does anyone know if there is an exit tax in Buenos Aires? I do know that there is a reciprocity tax in Santiago when entering that country by plane and that is $131, but I need someone to let me know if there is a tax on leaving Argentina by air. Unless things have changed recently you'll need to pay $18/person on the way out of the country. I can't exactly remember when you pay it. I think it is before going into the secure area. GreatAM would know for sure.
idnas71 Posted August 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 25, 2008 Is the $18 to be paid in U.S. Dollars? The amount of hard cash I'm going to have to bring with me in November is ever increasing. lol!

I must have paid in either pesos or by credit card as I never keep any US currency with me when travelling outside the US.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 26, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2008 You can pay the amount in Pesos or USA currency for sure. Be sure to arrive to the airport early. Most fights to the USA do not leave till the evening. Ticket counters open around 5:00 PM. You will answer some security questions on the ticket counter line, then someone will get you your boarding passes, then you will check in your luggage (all on that same line). Once you do this you will go to another area of the airport to pay the departure tax. Then you will go through the first of a few security lines. Sometimes the process is short and sometimes long so give yourself plenty of time. Keith
NantahalaCruiser Posted August 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2008 If you need more US Dollars, just go to the Casino (just watch the hours that the casino is open prior to entering port) they will give you cash on your ship card which then gets billed to your personal credit card, just as anyother ship purchase, with no additional fees Larry
