  1. I understand your concern about the card players; but on their behalf you should know that there used to be a card room adjacent to Cafe Al Bacio - back in the day when they actually had paid Bridge Directors! Celebrity did away with the card room and made it into the seated area next to Al Bacio with waiter service. Thus card players are left struggling to find a table for play.
  2. I have stayed in the same cabin on the Millennium. The extra space on the balcony is nice to have. Although the wall of the balcony is further out on the forward side, you can still see all the way forward (can see the outer corners of the bridge) when you look out over the forward part of the railing. Thus, as far as Celebrity is concerned, it is not classified as a partially obstructed cabin and there is no reduced price. It is generally considered a highly desirable cabin and often one of the first in its class to be booked. The only problem we had with the cabin was when we were cruising in the Geirangerfjjord. We could not see the top of the Seven Sisters Waterfalls due to the overhang of the wider #10 pool deck. But this is also true of all of the midship cabins on decks #8 and #9. Happy cruising Larry
  3. Our first cruise on HAL was this May on the Volendam in an Ocean View that had a nice sized shower with glass doors and no tub; apparently it had been converted from a tub/shower with curtains to a shower only with glass doors. I know the Pinnacle Class ships were built with such showers; but since I am a newbee with HAL, could someone please tell me which ships and what cabin classes have also converted their tubs to showers with glass doors? Note: my wife has trouble stepping into a tub. Thanks, Larry
  4. We were on the Volendam this May. Had to be in town by 9:30 for a 10:00 independent tour. Got in town before 9.
  5. Make sure that the price drop is the only change. Occasionally, price drops are accompanied with reductions in other benefits.
  6. The October Canada/New England cruises out of NY (Brooklyn) are all 7 night RT on the Enchanted Princess. Unfortunately, the Enchanted Princess does not have a covered pool. If you decide to take one of these cruises, look for one with only one sea day and a stop in St. John, NB, rather than the one with two sea days and no stop in NB
  7. 8 years ago, wife and I did two 14 nights B2B 50th anniversary from Yokohama to Singapore. Got to know our waiter in Blu really well! Repeating the 14 nights menu was not a problem back then since there were many choices. Each leg had an overnight in Hong Kong, so enjoyed 3 days there!
  8. However, Hurtigruten does not go into Flam, Geiringer or Olden
  9. Wife and I sailed on the Volendam two months ago. Balconies were all sold out, so we booked an ocean view on deck 2 rather than a lanai on deck 3 for a couple of reasons: -1- lanai cabins have public areas above while the ocean view cabins have guest cabins above and below -2- ocean view has an unobstructed view while lanai is obstructed by passengers walking by and the railings And although lanai guests have dedicated chairs on the promenade, personally I would find people walking past you only a couple feet away a little disruptive. But I am sure you will have a wonderful cruise regardless of your choice of cabins.
  10. Just compared a random choice of a 7-night Greek cruise on Infinity in July 2025. Aqua was only $231 pp more than the cheapest regular balcony - only $33 pp per night. At that rate, Aqua would definitely be the preferred choice. In addition to enjoying Blu, on Infinity, an Aqua cabin is somewhat larger than a standard balcony cabin: cabin 191sqft vs 170sqft and balcony 41sqft vs 38sqft
  11. Hi Patty Just curious. If you stick your head through the open window, isn't it just like leaning over the railing of a regular balcony. In other words, if you do so, can't you look back into the cabin next to yours? Or look down into the cabin below yours? Larry
  12. I have a 14 night on the Emerald Princess in July 2025, and the Plus is only giving me 2 casuals.
  13. Actually 8331 has bed by balcony since 8329 and 8331 have the symbols with couches next to the balcony
  14. And Radiance OTS still has the two gyro-stabilized pool tables.
  15. I believe this shows where Jupiter docks rather than where tenders from ships at the deepwater anchorage dock
  16. Seeing the lack of space reminded me that when Pickleball was invented, back in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, the original rules were you could serve with one foot in the court and one foot outside the court because they also had a lack of space. I will be on the Emerald in July 2025 - so will give it a try. I played recently on the Volendam - there was lots of room behind the end lines, but only about 12 inches from the sidelines to steel walls! Still was fun even thought the wind was often quite strong.
  17. Great - thanks for the update
  18. If you are saying you just got to Elite Plus on Celebrity and are assuming that also gives you Diamond Plus, I don't think that is correct. I am pretty sure that the reciprocities only go up to Diamond. Similarly, if you got to Diamond Plus on Royal, it only gives you Elite on Celebrity.
  19. Wife and I will be sailing to Canada on the Volendam this May. Have recent cruisers on Volendam seen any Cooking Demos or Hands-On Classes offered in the Wajang Theatre & Culinary Arts Center? If so and you participated, when and how did you register and what was the cost? Will they be less likely on just a 7-Night cruise? Thanks
  20. Love your picture of Oberwesel. Wife and I stayed overnight in the top of the tower at Burghotel Auf Schönburg while on a land trip about 40 years ago!
  21. When I was last on Celebrity - 3 years ago - II Bacio in the Oceanview Cafe did not offer all of the premium coffees that were available at Al Bacio - probably only 4 or 5 of the most regularly ordered coffees along with some tea.
  22. 3- As long as you keep one of the original persons on your reservation you can change any other persons with no added cost 4- If you were to substitute someone else for your SIL, then she would have no insurance claim since her reservation was used. Thus whoever you substitute would need to reimburse her.
