Gemini39 Posted September 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Years ago, when my parents went on an NCL cruise, they were given ponchos on a rainy port day. Does anyone know if RCCL provides ponchos on rainy port days? Or are they $14.95? (He hee.) Should I pack my own ponchos?
BrainChemicals Posted September 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Pack your own rain poncho. Don't anticipate RCL providing you anything for free.

I suggest that you pack your own. I usually pick up a few from the dollar store and throw them away after using them.

Rare silentbob007 Posted September 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Even though it's raining, I'm sure they'll still push the bottled water, too. ;)
FitzLA Posted September 24, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2008 I think the poncho is included in the $14.95 steak fee.

cb at sea Posted September 25, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2008 Bring a poncho, if you think you'll need one. They are not supplied.

Aleciajoyful1 Posted September 25, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 25, 2008 Your key words were "years ago", I can't imagine any cruise line offering free ponchos nowadays. I always pack a poncho from the dollar store just in case.
GaryfmCol Posted September 25, 2008 #11 Share Posted September 25, 2008 Bring a poncho, if you think you'll need one. They are not supplied. The way I see it is.... IF you do not bring one..like us..it is rainy. BUT.. IF you have them, and, carry them with you, it does not rain. That works.. We have 2 of them, still in their fold up bag they came in. Never been used. We never miss taking them with us. B-T-W.... we alway LUG $1.00 umbrella from Wal-Mart. (They are good for about 1 use) If we use them, we leave them on the ship.. but, we have not had to use any lately :D Carrying both are cheap insurance.
land lover Posted September 25, 2008 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2008 Back in the "old Days" many cruise lines provided large logo umbrellas. Some lux lines and river cruises still do.
firefly333 Posted September 25, 2008 #13 Share Posted September 25, 2008 RCL provided them last spring. I was walking back in the rain in Roatan and everyone coming off the ship had ponchos that RCL was handing out to those getting off in the port in the rain. They do give them out!!! :) PS this was on Voyager they provided them free in Roatan.

vickiw0318 Posted September 25, 2008 #18 Share Posted September 25, 2008 Y'all reminded me of my college football days. For you Cowboy fans out there, Crazy Ray used to have ponchos available at SMU home games at the Cotton Bowl. He'd go through the stands after it had started to rain crying out "Free Ponchos, Free Ponchos". When asked for one, he'd come back with "Tax, $2.50". When I was in Disney in April it poured all weeked and the gift shops charged like 10 bucks for them....Luckly my friend worked for Disney so we got to use the nice employee raincoats.
