ScotFi Posted September 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2008 Hi Recently on Enchantment 9/20 had a ball. Wondering about booking for next year. I am aware that Sept is hurricane season we were fortunate this year weather was great. Normaly have our holidays Sept do people think we would be pushing our luck and should go another time of the year. If so when is the best time of year for the Caribbean. Thanks scotfi:)
GXmanDC Posted September 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2008 I like to go in January. It is nice to get away from the winter weather and after spending the Holidays with my family I am ready for a break.
SissasMomE Posted September 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2008 I think March or April is the nicest - weather wise.
Mango Tango Posted September 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2008 We like going in January. It's nice to get away from the cold Minnesota Winters at that time. :D

Darkwolfe Posted September 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2008 Another vote for January here. Prices are usually lower just after the holidays. College and school age kids are in class (with a few home-school exceptions) and everybody is in a good relaxed mood after the holiday madness. Works real well for me! To the OP: Enchantment is a great ship! Glad you had a good time.
firefly333 Posted September 29, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 29, 2008 January has been my best cruise. Having been on the Conquest when Ike hit, I wouldnt book Sept again.
karen&roy Posted September 29, 2008 #9 Share Posted September 29, 2008 I like Oct but would also like between Thanksgiving and Christmas. fares are lower than because people are busy and the weather in the caribbean is great.:D
cb at sea Posted September 30, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 30, 2008 I agree that early in the year is the best time---no threat of hurricanes. They can really upset your trip and itinerary. I like to get the summer season off to a good start with a nice, warm weather cruise---get that tan started!
LLSullie Posted September 30, 2008 #11 Share Posted September 30, 2008 I always go the second or third week in December. Fantastic weather, ships usually not sold out so lots of space at the pool bar and the prices seem to be a little bit less. Good luck!
SheltieLady Posted September 30, 2008 #12 Share Posted September 30, 2008 Last year we did the Jewel of the Seas in January and it was wonderful it's a great time of year to go. Christine
CruiseLover15 Posted September 30, 2008 #13 Share Posted September 30, 2008 I have done 3 cruises in Sept. in the last 4 years and have been really luck with the weather. My birthday and anniversary are both in September and the cruise fare is usually priced better. I always purchase travel insurance.
MCLuv2Cruise Posted September 30, 2008 #14 Share Posted September 30, 2008 We always cruise in late Sept. or October. The weather is fabulous, the ships are not crowded and the prices are great! You can't beat it!
satxdiver Posted September 30, 2008 #15 Share Posted September 30, 2008 August, September and October are the most active months for hurricanes. If you go during that time you are rolling the dice. Sometimes you loose - ask the pax that were on the carnivore conquest this month. It happened to Galveston this time but it could happen anywhere in the south. All the southern ports have suffered hurricane damage. If you go during hurricane season (June 1 to November 30), buy good trip insurance. Incidentally if you cruise out of Puerto Rico, your chances are greatly improved in not being involved in a hurricane but it is by no means totally diminished. I only cruise out of southern ports out of hurricane season.

karena1 Posted September 30, 2008 #17 Share Posted September 30, 2008 We love early April. Weather is almost always gorgeous, it is nice and warm every day - high 80's, and the water is already nice and warm. I don't like cold weather at all and love the beach so April works great for us. In all the years we have been cruising, I could probably count the number of rainy days on one hand. Also pretty much calm seas at that time also. Cruisin Dave Posted October 2, 2008 #19 Share Posted October 2, 2008 I've sailed twice in October and 3 thimes in Feb and found that either time is fine. I would recommend late October to April. The rates are higher around the holidays and spring break so you may want to stay away from those dates. Good luck and have fun. Dave
B-52 Posted October 2, 2008 #20 Share Posted October 2, 2008 We went eastern first week of September, yes we had storms to deal with, BUT there was only one ship in St. Thomas, (us) and 2 ships in St. Martin. I could not believe it when our tour guide told us that when the new pier is finished, there can be as many as 10 ships in port at one time. Not to mention ships the size of Oasis. TOO MANY PEOPLE!
struther1 Posted October 2, 2008 #21 Share Posted October 2, 2008 We cruise the Caribbean every year at the end February beginning of March because we are sick of Ohio's winter, and the weather has always been perfect for us, not too hot during the days and very pleasant at night.
